Game of Thrones might be over, but that doesn’t mean we’re done talking about it!
Especially when it comes to Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams who played Sansa and Arya Stark.
Despite the fact that they didn’t have much screen time together, they got very close.
Which really says something about their relationship.
They got super close.
They got so close, in fact, that they actually became best friends.
They very often refer to each other as sisters even outside of the show.
They really grew up together on set.
Maisie was only 14 years old and Sophie 15 — they were really going through some of the most fundamental growing experiences together on set during that time.
Instead of friendship bracelets or necklaces, the two have matching tattoos of the day they accepted their roles for “Game of Thrones.”
This is truly where it all started, so this is such a cute and sentimental homage to one another.
Maisie will also be one of Sophie’s bridesmaids in her wedding to Joe Jonas.
She left a sweet message for her bff on Instagram.
“Congratulations to my beautiful girlfriend on her engagement. This is just one of MANY life milestones we’ll share. Love you both,” she wrote .
But sometimes, their friendship was actually a little dark.
When Sophie Turner was speaking with Dr. Phil about her mental health issues, she admitted that she confided in Maisie for a lot of her problems.
She mentioned that when they were both feeling low, they would just stay inside.
But, at least they were alone together.
Since they were going through the same thing, they found solace with each other.
But for the most part, their relationship was a lot of fun.
They were so close that the crew of Game of Thrones thought that they were dating!
So they both decided to play along.
In a recent interview with Conan O’Brien, Sophie Turner disclosed a hilarious prank she and bff Maisie would play on the cast.
Being some of the youngest cast members and best friends on set really must have been so much fun!
The talk show host noticed how close the two were when he visited one of the cast’s wrap parties last year.
“You and Maisie Williams are clearly, it’s not act, you’re like best friends. You were hanging out the whole party I was at,” he reflected.
“You two were sort of inseparable that night, and there were people, I know just in the world that thought for while you two are so close they thought, ‘are they a couple?'”
“Oh we fully knew about it, we played into it,” Sophie replied.
She talked about how they used to fool the crew.
“On the set, we would kind of do the scene then try and kiss each other in the middle of the scene and see if anyone would react.” she said .
The crew didn’t seem to react too much.
She continued with, “And its Game of Thrones so i****t is so normal that they were like, ‘alright, that’s fine’. It was probably the most tame thing that happened on the show, actually.”
We’ve actually seen the duo try this in a behind-the-scenes clip from the show.
They jokingly go in for a kiss during the scene where they reunite.
“It’s been fun. She’s my best mate,” Sophie says in the clip .
Sophie’s closing words on the matter:
“Yeah… sometimes you just wanna make out with your best friend.” she finished .
Hey, platonic kisses for the win!
