In seasons 16 and 17, viewers first saw the effect of Brown’s strict COVID-19 rules on the relationship with his two youngest boys, Janelle Brown-Gabriel and Garrison Brown.
Kody Brown Gives An Update
The 53-year-old is coming out clean and claiming he can’t have conversations with them these days.
“Now with those two boys, I’m estranged from them. I can’t even have conversations with them anymore,” Kody revealed in detail to Krishnan.
The Boys Stayed With Janelle For A While
During the pandemic, Gabriel and Garrison stayed with Janelle at her home for some months while the pandemic lasted. After the lockdown lifted, the boys continued to spend time outside their homes and visit their girlfriends.
Kody Got Stopped From Coming To The House
Due to the kid’s decision to remain active during the pandemic and how it didn’t go in line with Kody’s strict COVID-19 rules, it put a strain on his and Janelle’s marriage as she even requested he stop visiting her house during the pandemic.
Kody’s Strict Rules
Brown’s rules included everyone disinfecting their mail before bringing it inside the home and changing their clothes immediately after returning from an outing.
“If one of my little children were to die because somebody had to get his pencil wet, that made me so mad,” Kody told the One on One host.
The Inevitable Happened
Unfortunately for Brown, he contracted the virus from his daughter Aurora Brown. Then he called Gabriel to discuss the symptoms on his birthday, which he apparently forgot, and Gabriel didn’t remind him throughout the conversation.
Kody Reached Out To Talk Several Times
Upon realizing his mistake, Brown called back after a few hours, but it was too late, as that was the last time Gabriel spoke to him. Every attempt at resolving the issue with the boys fell on deaf ears from Janelle’s corner, which further worsened their relationship.
Sobering Up
At the end of the interview, Brown apologized to his sons and promised to do things differently moving forward.
“Boys, I’m sorry. I was trying to protect my family. Next time, I’d manage it differently, and I’m sorry.”
