Kim’s Convenience star Simu Liu has been cast as Marvel’s Shang-Chi, which is their first major Asian superhero.
And their first Asian hero to lead a film!
It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con!
It was one of the biggest announcements of the weekend.
It looks like Marvel is definitely fixing their mostly all-white cast problem.
What did Simu Liu have to say about getting the role?
“It really feels like someone waved a magic wand and your life is changed forever,” said Liu to The Star.
And hilariously, Simu Liu had tweeted Marvel about the role.
Talk about a tweet that aged well (that happens oh so rarely).
