People tend to look back on their school years fondly, or never want to remember them ever again. Though experiences can vary, there’s no denying that schools come with their own unique set of issues.
These schools in this list tried to make something better for their students, but missed the mark pretty heavily, only serving to create more problems everyone wishes they could forget.
“The new school in my community has a wheel chair access button for the door, but no way for a person in a wheel chair to reach it.”
Don’t worry, it got even worse. As someone in the comments pointed out, “The bump alone isn’t the only crappy design. The doors open out, so when you are over there pressing the button, the door opens and seals you off from the entrance.”
“Our school build a new sporting area on grass. Can’t wait to play basketball on this.”
They did all that work to perfectly create this rectangle of grass, but didn’t even try to put grass on the other, very sad dirt piles surrounding the parking lot? I guess some is better than none, but this still looks…unmotivating.
“This ceiling fan in my classroom.”
This should be a critique of the projector over the fan. Well, whoever put the projector in, anyway. They probably figured that no one is in the classroom during the summer when the fans are needed, so it surely it wouldn’t matter.
“This ‘acronym’ I found in a classroom.”
I understand that acronyms are a powerful teaching tool, especially when it comes to teaching children, but not everything needs to be an acronym. Do you hear me, teachers? If it’ll spare you moments like this, just forget the acronym part, make it numbered steps.
“Found at my high school.”
Oh good, another acronym. This one isn’t for children so they have no excuse. At least it’s a little bit better in that some of the letters match, but they couldn’t think of any other word for N? And why does it just say ‘warrior’ at the top?
“The DESIGN SCHOOL I graduated from sent this postcard out.”
Hey, they say it themself. You , the former student, know how to design. They don’t. They gave you all their knowledge and sent you off, now they’re without students to do this work for them.
“This graph in my school’s yearbook…”
They were really banking on more of their students liking salad, huh? All those healthy eating campaigns and PSAs didn’t pan out the way they’d hoped.
“High school bathrooms are already wild enough.”
Oh no. Oh god no. This is so horrific to even look at, let alone being there to witness it in person. Who cleared this? They need a stern talking to and a psych evaluation immediately.
“[University] campaign for class registration.”
Have registered me? That’s a great question, I haven’t had the time to self reflect and really ask myself if I have. Have registered me… only time will tell.
Rain collection.
As explained by a poor student who attends this school, “School does some renovations. New outside area has the tables in a lower section surrounded by a step up of pavement. Guess what happened when it rained two days ago.”
“This design at my university, the classroom is inside of the bathroom, nice.”
This school really knows how to make their students feel welcome, shifting their classroom to be right next to the bathroom.
Though, I suppose a bathroom inside a classroom would be worse than this classroom inside the bathroom.
“My high school commissioned a bulldog statue! This is the result.”
No where along the line did anyone stop and say hey, this doesn’t actually look that good? That this thing will actually humiliate our students and make us look terrible? Someone should have. Wow, someone really should have.
Placement, people.
“Hand sharpener right next to an emergency button that immediately calls the local police department and sends the principal to our classroom. It’s been hit about 3 times this marking period.”
“My High School’s Graduating Class of 2020 Shirt.”
Yeah, I get the concept, and it’s a good idea in theory, but most people who look at this shirt aren’t going to know what it means and will give up by line three. What’s an AAHSSE?
“They built this school like one month ago.”
“School is for children… children small. Tiny. High school? Still children. Still small. No such thing as a tall child. Low ceiling okay.”
“The main hallways roof in our school is made out of plexi-glass so Its like We are in a sauna. We cant stay in classrooms during breaks so We Just have to burn here.”
Is this school perhaps run by a former witch who used to live in a cottage made of candy in the woods? One who nearly escaped her criminal charges after almost baking two children in her oven?
“My classroom.”
They know that natural light is good for students and helps attentiveness, but also don’t want to risk a window to the outside world being too distracting. The answer? Make the classroom feel as much like a prison as possible.
“[My] classroom.”
It’s a blessing in the sense that it’s a class you can zone out in and no one would blame you, but it’s a curse because you will retain absolutely nothing from it even if you want to.
“In my French class textbook.”
When this girl signed that stock photo modeling contract, this is probably not how she was expecting her image to be used. For the best, too. She doesn’t need to know about this.
“My school locker can’t even fit my backpack because of those shelves.”
What were they thinking people would keep on that right side? It looks like it’d struggle to even hold a winter jacket. Pool noodles? Pitchforks?
I’m assuming the shelves on the left are for books, but you can only fit them about three wide, which still isn’t helpful.
