Actor Robbie Coltrane passed away yesterday, a piece of news that shocked fans of his. He was 72 years old, and immediately tributes began rushing in, namely from fans of the Harry Potter series for which he was best known.
There were also tributes from his co-stars, all very touching and heartfelt. Though some people had more… unique takes regarding his passing, including one Miriam Margolyes.
Actress and comedian Miriam Margolyes gave quite an honest tribute to Robbie Coltrane.

She interviewed with BBC’s Radio 4 program this morning, during which she didn’t shy away from saying Coltrane, who passed away yesterday at the age of 72, loved to drink and was overweight.
Coltrane was best known for playing Hagrid in the ‘Harry Potter’ series.

While Margolyes played Professor Sprout.
Coltrane had been open about his struggles with osteoarthritis, and was reportedly suffering with lots of pain through his final years.
“I didn’t know he was ill,” Margolyes said during her interview, “He just put on too much weight, stupid boy!”
“That’s the problem, he loved to drink. I used to wag my finger at him.”
“It’s such a waste to think of all that talent, that fire, he acted with passion. He was really wonderful.”
She didn’t have all bad things to say, as she also noted “he had a heart of gold.”
“Huge in stature, in personality, in heart. He was exceptional.”

This echos what other Harry Potter stars have said about him after his passing, including Daniel Radcliffe, who wrote, “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set.”
“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”
