28 Amazing DIYs That Are Seriously Made From Pool Noodles

As someone who strives for perfection when it comes to anything related to arts and crafts, a hack that helps me achieve that is always appreciated.

Rather than using a Sharpie to draw an outline of your design on a pumpkin, use a dry erase marker! So simple, but also so brilliant.

Instead of taking up much-needed storage space in your drawers, pin small boxes of things like sandwich and freezer bags to the walls of a closet or pantry.

Pushpins from any dollar or office supply store should get the job done.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Is it possible to even think about ice cream without getting that saying stuck in your head for the rest of the day?

If you’re planning on hosting a big group of people and have promised ice cream on the menu, make things easier on yourself with this clever idea.

Scoop the ice cream the day before your event and store them in the freezer using a large tin pan.

When it’s time to serve, remove the tin from the freezer and place it inside a second one that’s been filled with ice.

Have a sudden urge to bake cupcakes or muffins but know you don’t have any liners for your pan?

No problem! As long as you have a roll of parchment paper on hand, your urge to bake can still be fulfilled.

For those who like to experiment with hacks related to photography, this simple idea is a must-try.

All you have to do is find a picture of a vibrant color, enlarge it so that the shade fills your screen, and start snapping some pics.

I tend to get annoyed fairly easily, but I think we can all agree that stubborn labels and price stickers are just the worst.

To make removal as painless as possible, fill your sink with warm water and add a scoop of Oxi-Clean to it. Allow everything to soak and the labels should come right off.

Adding a cardboard tube to the center of a tall jar can help limit the number of decorations it takes to fill it up.

If you’re planning on decorating your home for the holidays, this is a definitely hack you have to remember.

Quit wasting time and stubbing toes while trying to find the light switch in a dark room!

The Family Handyman

A dab of glow-in-the-dark paint, which can be found at many hardware stores in the paint section, instantly eliminates this common problem.

Storing large makeup collections can be tough, especially if you want a solution that’ll allow you to easily see and access everything you own.

Luckily, the perfect storage option can be found at your local dollar store: plastic ice cube trays!

If you have a door in your home that rattles or slams, use cabinet bumpers to decrease the racket they make.

The Family Handyman

The most effective place to put the bumpers is wherever the door first contacts the doorstop molding.

Accidents happen, so it’s always good to be prepared just in case you find yourself in need of a helpful fix.

To remove a broken light bulb from a socket, cut the power source and then split a potato in half. Insert the potato into the broken bulb and use it to unscrew the remnants.

When it comes to moving, utilizing every possible storage space is the key to successful packing.

For example, instead of wasting a cardboard box on something small like bottles of herbs and spices, put large, empty appliances to work.

Wine corks are a lot more versatile than you may realize.

The Krazy Coupon Lady

For example, did you know you can slice a bunch of them down the middle to use as bag clips?

You can also cut them into small discs to create pads for chair legs.

All you have to do is glue them in place and your floors will be free and clear of scratches, just like that!

Wine corks also make great fire starters.

Fill a small canning jar with natural corks and 90% rubbing alcohol. Allow them to soak for a week and then pull one out whenever you want to get a roaring fire started.

Corn on the cob is delicious, but it can be a bit of a pain to remove the husks and all of the little hairs they tend to leave behind.

Simply Recipes

To make this process quicker and easier to manage, toss the corn in a microwave on high for four minutes and then cut off the stem. Now you should be able to pull the husk and pieces of silk off of the corn with ease.

Anyone who’s ever worked with a hammer has probably placed a few nails in their mouth at one time or another.

Image credit: Dream A Little Bigger
Dream A Little Bigger

It’s not the best idea, especially in terms of safety, so instead of subjecting yourself to a potentially painful slipup, glue a magnet to the bottom of your hammer and make it hold all of the nails instead.

If you have a small gap between your counter top and refrigerator that does nothing more than collect dust and crumbs, use plastic tubing to seal it.

The Family Handyman

This stuff can be found at most hardware stores, and it also comes in a variety of sizes, so you should be able to get exactly what you need without any major problems.

Not all picture frames come with both a stand and a hook for hanging.

The Family Handyman

But, instead of buying a brand new frame simply because the one you have can’t be displayed on a wall, put your DIY skills to good use and make one out of a soda can tab.

Who doesn’t love the smell of Pottery Barn?

Looks like I won’t be getting rid of my old slow cooker after all! This trick is so easy, there’s no reason for not giving it a shot.

Is there anything better than a homemade breakfast sandwich? I can’t think of much!

Pinching Your Pennies

To ensure your delicious batch of scrambled eggs stays on the sandwiches and doesn’t fall all over the place, use mason jar lids as molds. Simply spray them with a bit of cooking oil, place them on a griddle, and gently pour in your egg mixture.

Leftover pizza is awesome, but soggy, microwaved slices are not.

So, the next time you want to enjoy a slice of leftover pizza that isn’t unpleasantly chewy, place a glass of water inside the microwave with it.

I get that sewing isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite pasttime, but if it’s something you enjoy and you look for as many helpful tips as possible that make it easier to do, you’ll appreciate this hack.

Now you’ll never have uneven stitches again!

And if threading a needle is something you’ve always struggled with, this trick will prevent you from losing your cool.

Image credit: The Art Of Manliness

Pinch the thread between your thumb and index finger so that only the very tip of it is exposed. Instead of trying to push the thread through the needle, push the eye of the needle onto the tip of the thread.

OK, OK, I promise this is the last sewing hack I’ll share!

To ensure all of the tiny, sharp objects in your pin dish stay put, glue a few strong magnets to the bottom of it.

I like getting out in my garden and making it look pretty, but I don’t really own a pair of shoes I’m OK with ruining.

However, now that I know about this shower cap hack, I guess that’s something I don’t have to worry about anymore.

Another awesome use for shower caps is as ice packs for outdoor events.

Image credit: The Krazy Coupon Lady
The Krazy Coupon Lady

Simply fill the caps with ice and secure them around any food items that need to stay cool.

Ensure your chrome hardware looks its very best all the time by using a sheet of wax paper to give it a sleek shine.

With enough hacks like this in your back pocket, your house will look like a million bucks in no time.

Seriously, why wasn’t this idea been brought to my attention until now?

The number of times I’ve mistakenly painted my fingernails before taking care of the polish on my toes is embarrassing. But I guess if I ever find myself in that predicament again, I’ll be equipped with the perfect solution.

If you need to create a larger bag, you can create one with two Ziploc bags.

Simply flip one inside out and connect its tracks with the other one.

Bam! Life = changed.

Know exactly where you’re hanging something on your wall this this nifty hack.

Place some painter’s tape over the nail slots in whatever you’re hanging and use a pen or marker to mark a couple X’s where the nails will go.

Transfer the tape to the wall, hammer the nails directly onto the X’s, and voila! A perfect wall placement.

Child-proof caps can be so pesky.

And if you have bad joints or arthritis, they’re virtually impossible to get open.

I had absolutely no idea flipping the cap upside down still made it a cap!

Now, this is a hack to take with you throughout your life.

Maybe you’ve only ever lived in one place, and that’s cool.

But if you move or plan on moving, simply wrap your clothes in garbage bags. When you arrive to your new place, you don’t have to worry about re-hanging all your clothes!

It is virtually impossible to not fish for plastic containers and their lids after a dishwasher cycle.

That is, until this hack!

Place a dish drying rack over your lightweight containers and they won’t budge.

We’ve all popped butter in the microwave for a few seconds only to open the microwave to a pool of molten grease.

Trapping a stick of butter under a hot glass ensures a nice even soften.

Wow, I feel pretty lame for buying fancy coasters from home decor stores.

The whiteout or white nail polish will fill in all the numbers and words on tools so you don’t have to strain your eyes to read them!

There’s nothing worse than waiting for someone’s food to be done in the microwave when you’re very hungry.

Here’s how you cook two plates at once so you can eat at the same time!

It’s very easy to lose hardware after disassembling items.

If you label the parts on some cardboard and stick screws and nails next to their respective part, you won’t have that problem!

No room for a Christmas tree? No problem.

Making one out of garland is super inventive and cute. And look, plenty of room underneath to fill with presents!

This trick is kind of cruel, but if it works…

Now they’ll think juice tastes like chalky watery medicine. Oops haha!

Don’t you notice how hotel room curtains never stay shut and you always wake up to the sun beaming right into your eyes?

Attaching a hanger made for pants works perfectly to keep them nice and shut and ensure a relaxing morning.

Waiting for your morning coffee to cool off so that you don’t burn off your tongue can be a pretty tough thing to do.

To help speed up this process, use a pen to create extra ventilation in the plastic lid.

And if you have a real hankering for a fresh batch of warm banana bread but you don’t have any overripe bananas to use, throw them in the oven.

Image credit: The Krazy Coupon Lady

Place the unripe fruit on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and bake them for 40 minutes in a 300 degree oven. Keep an eye on them, and once they’re black and soft to the touch, they’re ready.

It usually ends up that frozen food bags just get piled on top of one another in the freezer.

Clipping frozen veggie and fruit bags to the shelf in the freezer is a great way to easily grab whatever you need and to keep your freezer organized!

This is just way too simple, it’s genius.
