This might be an unpopular opinion, but I always start decorating for Christmas early. But before you go judging me and telling me I’m “nuts”, let’s all consider how terrible 2020 has been.
Yeah, we could all use a little cheer in our lives. Get off my back.
Now, I will say that decorating early has its downsides. Mainly that it reminds me of just how much Christmas shopping I actually have to do. Decorating the tree is all fun and games until you realize there’s going to have to be some presents under it eventually.
I like to start every dreaded Christmas shopping season by writing out the names of everyone I have to buy for this year.

And somehow that list just keeps growing and growing every year.
Thankfully my partner and I can double-up on a lot of those people and share ideas with each other, but that doesn’t mean the list decreases at all.
In fact, with his family included, it turns into a never-ending scroll of names.

Do you know what teenage girls like nowadays? I certainly don’t. But he has two teenage sisters, and I can almost guarantee they will not be “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing” over whatever we eventually decide to buy them.
Is One Direction still a thing? Anyone? Oh man.
Honestly, 99.9% of the gifts I give this year will come from Amazon, and that’s not just because of the pandemic that’s still going on.

Although, it’s definitely a contributing factor.
Amazon does this amazing thing where it shows you gift ideas for everyone on your list. Got a picky mother-in-law who buys everything she wants herself? Here’s some options. Don’t feel like you even know what your brother’s into nowadays? Check out these random items and see if one feels like a winner.
But most of all, I hate Christmas shopping season because of just how much it hurts my poor wallet.

Indeed, while I sit here complaining about the shopping I’ve even yet to start, I can hear my wallet sobbing in my purse, already anticipating the h**l it’s going to go through in the name of Christmas .
But hey, ’tis the season, right?
