Have you ever felt that extreme satisfaction that comes when a small thing just goes right? It seems silly to feel such a strong reaction to something relatively insignificant, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pause and enjoy it for a moment.
It’s like rolling over into that perfect position in bed. Nothing is too warm or too cold, your pillow is giving the perfect amount of support, and your tank top hasn’t twisted around and begun to cut off circulation to your b**b.
It’s satisfying, and fleeting, and we should all bask in it before facing the rest of the crazy world.
Because the rest of the world is downright insane right now.
We need to take those moments of bliss and cherish them, even it they are mundane.
Keep an eye on those little bits of satisfaction too; they can teach you new things about yourself.
If you find yourself borrowing a pen and realizing that it’s a really nice pen, ask about it when you return it — and always return it! If your office supply cupboard is full of cheap BICs and that person opts to use something else, don’t steal it from them.
Instead, you may have discovered that you actually don’t mind taking notes if your pen doesn’t s**k.
So enjoy the little things, appreciate them, and maybe learn a bit about yourself through that.
At worst, you get a moment of satisfaction and zen to help you through these troubled times. At best, you may discover a new interest or spark a new hobby.
