I feel so bad for people who were not able to experience the ’90s as a kid firsthand. Obviously, I’m biased because I’m a ’90s kid. Yes, Millennial here—hi, hello. But honestly, snacking was at its p r i m e . I mean, no one was talking about gluten-free this, or vegan that, and the term “whole foods” or “healthy” wasn’t even invented yet. Snacking was…fun.
We could certainly use all the fun we could get these days, and one of Fruit Roll-Ups’ most beloved products is back to save snacking.
Remember these Fruit Roll-Ups?
It’s sort of hard to see, but it’s the pizza topping cutout Peel ‘N Build Fruit Roll-Ups.
It’s like you were creating a new food out of one food item, and no one could hate mushrooms or green peppers when it tasted like a rainbow of sweet fruit flavors.
They even came out with a Jurassic Park version in 1997.
This version was to promote The Lost World and came in their chapstick-tasting strawberry flavor.
We’re certainly all feeling a little prehistoric after seeing the iconic snack’s comeback.
If you need a little excitement back in your snacking, it looks like the pizza topping Peel ‘N Builds are back!
Instagrammer @candyhunting spotted them at their local Woodman’s Market, which are grocery stores located along the Illinois-Wisconsin border.
You may have never wandered down the “kid” snacks aisle before, but you might want to start checking now.
This time, the Fruit Roll-Ups are filled with stripes of strawberry, lemonade, and tropical flavors.
If all else fails, just ball it up, pop it in your mouth, and let the taste of nostalgia transport you back to a different time, even if it’s for a few minutes.
