Forks are useful inventions that many people use every day. The tines make it easy to pick up food or twist it around, like when consuming delicious spaghetti or stabbing a piece of meat.
But forks have more uses beyond eating food. Here are some useful tricks you need to know.
A viral TikTok is full of helpful hacks.

While forks are great for eating, and eating is wonderful, did you know you can use your fork for more than putting food into your mouth?
The TikTok account tipshacks.us shared a video on other uses for forks that went viral on the platform. We’ve put together the best suggestions.
Use a fork to fix a zipper.

When a zipper slider falls off a zipper, it can be a real struggle to get it back on. But a fork can make the process easier.
Attach the slider to one of the times so it stays securely in place. Then, you can place the zippers on either side without dealing with slippery fingers trying to hold everything together.
Don’t have a bottle opener? Try a fork.
Have you ever been trying to get the cork of a bottle but didn’t have a bottle opener? It’s so frustrating! But, chances are you likely have a screw and a fork in your house.
According to the video, you can screw the screw into the cork and then use the fork like the back of a hammer to pull at the screw. It’s a good option to try in a pinch!
Forks are also great for cooking.

Other tips in the video were technically food-related, although not about using the fork to eat.
First of all, you can use a fork to thinly slice green onions or other vegetables. This is a great way to quickly finish a step while prepping food or cooking a meal. And you won’t have to improve your knife work skills!
Save money on a garlic press.

While a garlic press can be useful, you can save money using a fork instead! All you need to do is use the tines to pick out a clove of the garlic.
Then, apply pressure on the clove to mince the garlic and add it to any recipe. We love a hack that helps us save money!
Cleaning? Try a fork for tiny areas.

There are cleaning products out there made to help you clean small crevices and corners in your house or car, but do you really need to purchase them? Probably not if you have a fork around.
All you need to do is wrap a cleaning cloth around the fork. It will easily reach between car vents and other hard-to-access places.
Overheating laptop? Grab two forks.

The last fork hack we think is worth trying is to take two forks, turn them upside down, and use them to prop up your laptop when it’s too hot. This allows the air to flow under the laptop and prevents overheating.
This is a good option when trying to save money on laptop accessories.
The video did miss one great way to use a fork, however!

While all these tips and tricks are great, we think one of the best alternative uses for a fork is as a hairbrush!
After all, Ariel uses a fork to brush her hair in The Little Mermaid, although she calls it a dinglehopper. Scuttle the seagull wasn’t so accurate about the name.
