NTA! OP, I agree with you completely. All your points are valid. This is wrong on multiple levels, mostly the taking advantage of friends to profit themselves. Don’t throw a party if you can’t afford to throw a party. Personally as someone who is no longer in their 20s, I don’t even agree with BYOB.
