If you’re a parent , you know that it isn’t a glamorous job. And, keeping your household neat and tidy is a constant battle. It’s nearly impossible to catch up on all the cleaning required for daily survival, not to mention when the in-laws are coming over.
So to make you feel better, I wanted to show you that you’re not alone and that other parents out there are struggling, too.
A mom on Twitter started this thread and let’s just say things got pretty real, fast.
She posted this, and a slew of other parents eagerly showed off their messy households, hee-hee. I bet it was quite the relief for them to finally admit that, no, they’re not perfect either.
She started off by posting a picture of the current state of her bathroom.
And as you can see, it doesn’t look neat or tidy at all. On the contrary, it’s pretty much a mess, hee-hee. But this mom isn’t ashamed of it, and instead, she admits that it’s been like this for days.
Aww, I feel sorry for this young mom.
It sounds like she’s having a tough day, that’s for sure. But at least she’s there for her baby when she’s needed the most, and that’s the most important thing after all, eh?
This unfortunate incident.
I don’t envy this mom at all. Not only did she just give birth, but now, in addition to tending to a crying baby and sleepless nights, she has to deal with this too. Ugh!
This is real life, folks.
Ha, ha, I guess the kids will be kids. Am I right? Oh well. One thing is for sure you will miss this when they are off to college, and the house is way too clean and quiet.
This is your living room when you’re a parent.
There’s no more fancy furniture in the living room when you’re a parent. From now on, it’s a Grogu chair, which by the way I love, hee-hee, and toys all over the place.
Let them play, you say!
Even when you get your kids to play, they manage to make a mess. I guess they don’t understand the concept of a table and prefer to throw things on the floor. Does that sound familiar to you or what?
The perpetual holidays.
Oh, my goodness. This lady still had the Christmas tree up on February 27. Yikes! I thought I let mine stay a bit too long, but I guess there is no time in this household to take it down.
At least this thread is helping some moms feel better.
For example, this lady here doesn’t feel as alone as she thought she was. And I think that was the whole point of Amanda posting about it — to normalize parenting chaos!
What do you do when you have a train enthusiast in the house?
I guess it’s just one of those things you need to put up with, huh? Well, at least the kid does have a hobby or an interest. That’s a good thing in my book.
Imagine living in this sporty household?
Um, no! I don’t know how this lady does it. If it were me, I think I would be going out of my mind right about now. Thank goodness, I have no kids obsessed with playing sports, ha, ha.
This totally normal situation.
Trying to get anything done with the kids around is quite the challenge this mom knows all too well. Am I right? I feel for her here, and I wish somebody would at least help her with the laundry.
The struggle is real.
Oh my goodness, ha, ha. I love how this lady put it. “It takes about 10 minutes to go from totally clean to chaosville.” Isn’t that right? I’m laughing and crying at the same time.
Does this look familiar to you or what?
Whoa! What in the world is going on here? Oh, wait, this is just the way the living room looks now. Oh, well, better get used to it.
Real-life vs. Instagram
Isn’t it amazing how many people post perfect pictures of their households on Instagram, but it’s the furthest from the truth? Oh, yeah! So don’t compare yourself to those people because they’re not showing you the real picture.
This is what happens when you try to discipline your kid.
Yes, that is actual chalk on the wall of his bedroom. I guess somebody wanted to retaliate, huh? Wow, I really don’t envy this mom.
This real story.
Aww, check out this honest mom. She really does feel like her household is the worst of them all. But I can assure her that it is not. There are plenty of parents dealing with the same exact situation as she is here.
This dumping phase.
I bet this mama here is thinking, “This too shall pass,” ha, ha. Her baby girl is in a dumping phase, and as you can see, everything just ends up on the floor of their living room. Oh, man! What a mess, huh?
Well, as I said earlier, you’re definitely not alone.
As you can clearly see, other parents are struggling to keep their households clean, and you don’t need to feel guilty about it at all. The best you can do is do what you can. That’s all. After all, you are trying to keep little humans alive. That’s a tall order as it is, no?
