Postpartum bodies can face stigma, but one woman wasn’t afraid to hop on TikTok and show off her body after three kids for a professional photoshoot. Rachel Pedersen decided to get bold in her blazer to pose for a picture with her stomach out, despite what others may say about her post-baby belly. We give her major props for being an unapologetic mom and business woman.

People are a little perplexed by the “professional” tummy photo.

No matter what kind of stomach someone has, it’s hard for many to buy that it’d ever be appropriate to show in a workplace — any workplace. It seems like a weird way to explain being a professional and mom at the same time.

Some people are still unclear what the assignment was for this photoshoot, and others are rolling with it through and through. Pederson is getting some serious love for her photos and overall mission of normalizing postpartum bodies. With over 150K likes and many positive comments that applaud her, Pederson is definitely getting her message across.

When it comes to her TikTok videos that center on motherhood, professionalism and motivation, the people are buying what Pederson’s selling. This self-proclaimed, “Queen of Social Media” built a TikTok empire, and she’s got lots of followers.
Her message comes down to appreciating “real bodies”.
While many images are airbrushed, edited and made to fit into societal beauty standards, people (especially, women) are made to feel as if their natural bodies aren’t good enough. Whether people think Pederson’s professional stomach photo makes sense or not, we can only hope that her message of visibility and representation for postpartum bodies comes across.
It’s time to redefine which bodies are worthy.
It should be pretty obvious by now — all bodies are worthy. The feelings of shame, erasure and rejection that come from body shaming need to make a hasty exit immediately. Pederson’s TikTok video has inspired others to embrace themselves in all of their beautiful imperfections and authenticity. That’s pretty powerful.
