A mother who just wanted to wrap her 2022 Christmas gifts in peace has gone viral for renting herself two nights in a hotel room to do it. TikTok user @mckelligan is now in the news after showing footage of her booked stay – and it isn’t the first time she’s done it. Posting for her 1389 followers and now gaining over 2.7 million views for her share, McKelligan wrote: “Booked a hotel for the weekend” with a female head emoji before showing how it went. The holidays are definitely a challenging time for mothers. If you can afford the room, a hotel stay for gift-wrapping might be the perfect solution.
A Hotel Solution
Footage showed McKelligan smiling and in a gray sweater with “Santa baby” in it. Initially, she was seen pushing a cart of purchases around a store.

The camera then swung to her flopping onto a hotel room bed before getting busy wrapping her gifts. Definitely solo, the user had the TV on as much of the hotel room floor was taken up by wrapping paper and gifts. At the end of the video, fans saw all of the presents beautifully wrapped – they also got this mom snapping selfies in the hotel bathroom as she wore a red and white beanie and enjoyed a beverage from the coffee chain Starbucks.
“Wrapping weekend 2022,” she wrote.
Not Her First Time!
The user also wrote: “Second annual wrapping weekend! Booked a hotel for two nights, wrapped all gifts, order takeout, watch tons of tv, and no one asked me for anything.”
Feedback is proving mixed. “Oh….we’re in a different tax bracket,” one user replied, seemingly not impressed at the expense. Another said to “hear me out,” before writing that “an airbnb so all the moms can wrap and sip together.”

The holiday season is filled with love and promises of joy from movies, but the reality can be a stressed-out parent who just can’t handle the extra pressure. Handling that stress can include taking a break and making sure you check in for some self-care; a candlelit bubble bath or meditation can calm things down – even just a quick call with a friend or relative can help.
Celebrity Pressure
Meanwhile, some moms are feeling the pressure as celebrities continue to flaunt their luxurious gift-giving – chances are, the average mom can’t afford Kim Kardashian or Cardi B’s presents. There’s always a hotel room if you can afford it, though!
