There are a lot of horror stories about people finding unwanted things in their food when eating at fast-food restaurants, but one woman has taken the bizarre things found in her food to a new level of late.
Ms Perez took to Facebook earlier this week to share her disgust, and amazement, at finding that the chicken dish she ordered for her son was definitely not chicken!

The night started out normal enough.
It was supposed to be just another average, everyday meal. Ms Perez ordered the food and had it delivered. A pretty standard endeavor, for sure.
However, she certainly wasn’t expecting what she was to receive.
The fried chicken that Ms Perez ordered seemed fine on the surface.
Ms Perez had ordered food from Jollibee late in the evening for her and her son. However, she posted pictures of the food to Facebook , writing:
“We had Jollibee delivered via grab. Ordered chicken for my son, while I was trying to get him a bite, I found it super hard to even slice. Tried opening it up with my hands and to my surprise a deep fried towel.”
Yes, she was horrified to find that it was actually a deep-fried-towel!
“This is really disturbing… How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it,” she wrote, which is a very valid question.
“I really thought that the post complaining about weird stuff in their orders were just all made up, now I know that it really happens! So disgusting and embarrassing…” she added.
Maybe they need to tone down the ‘fast’, in ‘fast-food’ a little if things like this happen?
All you have to do is break down the term ‘fast-food’ to see how this issue could arise. It’s food that’s made fast . When you have employees told to move as quickly as possible, that creates the potential for problems.
A problem, like, say, deep frying a towel instead of a piece of chicken. Or not noticing that you’re serving someone a towel after the fact!
Ms Perez was horrified at the thought of how many other chicken dishes may have been contaminated by this mix-up.
“Now I can’t even think of the other [chickenjoys] while frying this. Having the same oil for how many hours after frying this FRIED TOWEL […] The essence of the towel contaminated the oil and the batter from the supplier so how many chickenjoys are affected? We won’t know…” she finished her post by writing.
I can safely imagine that it will be a long time before Ms Perez, or any of the 75,000 people who shared the post, will be ordering food from this restaurant!
They even tore the towel apart to make sure there was definitely no chicken lurking within.
The post has since garnered a massive amount of traction online, with a lot of people sharing their disgust at the towel or even trying to find the humor in the situation by writing the likes of:
“This is actually a good case for a lawsuit. Your Health and other people’s health were compromised due to mishandling.”
“Chicken-sad not chickenjoy… I would think it came from their [factory.] Crew in stores just open up a bag of chicken and dump it in oil so they wouldn’t know. Now I wonder, how the factory sanitation of jolibee is?”
“100% Cotton, Rich in fiber and full of kitchen minerals.”
The restaurant did apparently replace the chicken, but Ms Perez wasn’t exactly thrilled about that fact.
I cannot say that I would have been keen to be devouring chicken that has been deep-fried in towel oil; although a lot of people were wondering what other worse things may be lurking around in that kitchen just waiting to be deep-fried?
This towel incident has caused some second-guessing.
One of the upsides to sitting down to a meal at a fast-food restaurant is you pretty much know what you’re going to get. It’s a standard we’re supposed to be able to count on, or, at least, that’s what we previously thought.
It’s probably not a bad idea to have a good look before you take that first bite from now on.
I’ll have the deep-fried towel with tartar sauce, please.
