Anything can happen at the beginning of a relationship. In that awkward early period when people are first getting to know each other, some dates can end up revealing a lot more about someone than even they would have expected.
Because while some people can sadly hide who they really are until a relationship becomes more serious, it’s hard not to prefer the person who drafts a thoughtful survey before the first date over the one who writes insecure messages in lipstick all over people’s toilet seats.
But of course, it’s also true that major life events don’t often wait until someone is deep into a relationship to befall them. And when their new partner reacts to these hard situations with understanding and care, it’s hard not to get why someone would think something more permanent with them could be on the horizon.
From the sounds of things, that’s what has unfolded after one man’s gesture was clearly appreciated.
On February 10, a woman who goes by Alyssa Jane uploaded a TikTok in which she shared the story of how she came to give birth.

While her son Ollie quietly fussed next to her chest, she explained that she had known her boyfriend Max for about eight weeks by the time he was about to arrive.
In that time, they had only gone on three or four dates before a fateful day that was supposed to involve her picking Max up from the airport after a business trip.
However, Jane would eventually find herself sending a text telling him that she couldn’t do this because her water had just broken.
But after he found his own way home and unpacked, he sent her a message offering to come see her while she was in labor.

And although the prospect made Jane somewhat nervous since she still didn’t know Max that well, she felt otherwise alone and in need of a support person so she agreed.
As she put it, “So the fourth date was him coming to my labor and birth and delivery, like what?”
Not only did he end up coming as promised, but he would provide the new mom with the most support she could have received during that time.
As she told it, her mom was on vacation when this occurred, so she was only able to arrive by the time Jane had been induced.

Unfortunately, she had to leave the day after Ollie was born, which was terrifying and isolating for the then 19-year-old because the baby would have to spend time in the NICU shortly thereafter.
However, it turned out that Max was allowed to stay despite the hospital’s COVID-19 restrictions because health care workers were under the impression that he was the father.
And since he didn’t try to dispel that impression, he was able to support Jane during a scary time for her and even visit Ollie in the NICU.
Moreover, Max even took a week off of work after Jane was discharged to help her get used to becoming a new mom.
With all of that being the case, it’s perhaps not a great surprise that the couple is still together to this day.
