When we talk about life hacks, the conservation is usually either dominated by the legitimately clever ones that actually save us a lot of time or the ridiculous ones that we can’t imagine anybody using.
But honestly, most of the hacks we encounter will find themselves somewhere in between these two extremes and there will be some healthy debate as to whether they’re worth using.
This is especially true if they’re relevant to already controversial aspects of our society like tipping culture or the expectations put on women’s bodies after pregnancy, but we can find that people are just as passionate in arguments about hiding snacks in the dishwasher.
And as we’ll soon see, the reason these debates keep cropping up is that a hack can seem utterly genius to some but impractical to others. But if nothing else, we can at least say that one trick with frozen pizza doesn’t take too long.
On April 12, a man named Eric Grant uploaded a video to TikTok that quickly went over a frozen pizza hack he had apparently come up with.
And he’s not one to mince words because just as soon as the video starts, he already gets into what we need to do.
The first step is to take the pizza and hold it down on the edge of the corner with half of the pizza sticking out.
Then as he quickly demonstrates, you’re supposed to hit the half that’s dangling off the edge hard enough to break the pizza in half.
And as he put it, “The other way, halfway, hit it.”
The pizza should then be broken into four pieces in its packaging, which then allows it to be “pre-cut” by the time you pull it out of the oven.
In Grant’s words, “You don’t have to worry about pizza slicers or any of that good stuff.”
For many of his viewers, this hack came as a stroke of genius that makes the already easy process of cooking a frozen pizza as simple as it can be.
As one commenter said , “I’m not ashamed to admit this man is smarter than me.”
However, it’s because this process is normally so easy that others didn’t think this hack was actually worth doing.
And for those who like to put their pizzas directly on the oven rack without using a pan, the hack only had the potential to make cooking less convenient.
As one critic put it, “Except all the cheese falling at the bottom of your oven and all the smoke alarms going off because it’s burning.”
I guess it’s up to you as to whether this makes things any easier.
