Within five days, the tone of news about Luke Perry’s well-being turned from concerned optimism to a kind of sad shock. It seemed that almost as soon as fans had learned of his stroke, they had to hear about its tragic effects.
When the world loses somebody so suddenly, it makes it difficult to fully grasp that they’re gone.
Yet, the release of his death certificate today states this reality about as plainly as it can be said.
The certificate comes from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and was obtained by TMZ.

As TMZ reported , the certificate confirmed that his death was the result of a “ischemic cerebrovascular accident,” which is the medical term for a stroke.
Perry was initially responsive and able to speak on February 27 when paramedics reached his home in Sherman Oaks, California.

However, it wasn’t long before his condition became more discouraging. Doctors put him into a medically-induced coma in the hope that he would recover, but his family chose to take him off life support once it became clear that this was not possible.
The certificate listed the 52-year-old actor’s fiancée, Wendy Bauer, as his next of kin.

According to The Daily Mail , the couple had planned to marry in Los Angeles on August 17 and sent out art-deco invitations.
Perry died at the Providence Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, California.

He is survived by Bauer, his children, Sophie and Jack, as well as his siblings, Amy, Emily and Thomas.
Although his usual residence was his California home, he was transported to a different part of the country altogether.

As TMZ reported , the certificate listed his final resting place as Dixon, Tennessee.
Perry was buried at this location on March 11.

The likely reason he was moved to Tennessee has to do with the fact that he owned a farm there and was a part-time resident of the state.
