To Be Honored In Graceland
Lisa Marie Presley will rest in Graceland, her father’s old home, on Sunday, Jan. 22, following her untimely passing.
A public memorial service will be held on Graceland’s front lawn at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, according to a statement Lisa Marie’s representative provided to ET on Monday.
A Presley Tradition
Lisa Maria, following in the Presleys’ long tradition, along with Elvis, his parents Vernon and Gladys, his grandmother Minnie Mae, and Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide in July 2020, are all interred at Graceland. Also, there is a smaller memorial stone for Elvis’ identical twin brother Jessie, who passed away at birth.
She Suffered A Cardiac Arrest
On January 12, Lisa Marie suffered a complete cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, California, home and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Prior to bringing her to the hospital, the emergency personnel attempted CPR. Soon later, Lisa Marie passed away.
Her Father’s Death Was Also Shocking
Although Lisa Marie was born in Memphis, she did not reside there. Nevertheless, she traveled to the city to observe her father’s birthday and commemorate his passing, which shocked the world when Elvis was discovered dead in Graceland at 42 on August 16, 1977.
Sole Heir Of Elvis Presley
The Elvis Presley Trust was maintained by Elvis Presley Enterprises and Lisa Marie as its sole heir, up until she sold her majority stake in the trust in 2005. She kept possession of the mansion, its 13 acres of grounds, and everything inside.
Always A Daddy’s Girl
Presley had visited Graceland a few days before her passing to honor her father’s birthday, which fell on January 8th. The actress and her mother, Priscilla Presley, were both there at the Golden Globes the two nights before the terrible death of the singer. They witnessed Austin Butler win the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of Elvis.
Joint Heirs
Lisa Marie Presley, her grandfather Vernon Presley, and her great-grandmother Minnie Mae Hood shared the rock legend’s estate after he passed away when she was just nine years old.
Taking Control
When she turned 25 in 1993, she fully assumed control of the estate and established The Elvis Presley Trust to carry on its successful management.
