All loss is difficult, but there are f ew things in life more painful than losing the love of your life — a fact that actor Liam Nesson has come to know all too well.
Back in 2009, Liam lost his one great love , Natasha Richardson, in a tragic skiing accident. To this day, he remains faithful to her memory, even years after her death .
When you think of Liam Neeson, images of a cold-blooded tough guy immediately spring to mind.

Over the course of Liam’s impressive acting career, he’s carved out a name for himself as one of Hollywood’s most beloved action heroes.
On the contrary, there are those who still see him as the wise old sage knight, Qui Gon Jinn.

Liam recently reprised his iconic Star Wars role for the widely-popular Disney + series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. It was a brief, albeit memorable cameo.
However, few fans would likely peg Liam for being a devoted romantic based solely on his body of work.

But as it turns out, Liam is a lot more like his character Daniel in Love Actually than fans might initially suspect.
It’s a little-known fact that Liam’s wife, Natasha Richardson, died in a tragic accident back in 2009.

Natasha fell while skiing in the Quebec city of Mont-Tremblant. Initially, she seemed fine but was later rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
Natasha’s condition went from bad to worse. Soon after she was admitted, Liam was forced to make an impossible decision.

“She and I had made a pact. If any of us got into a vegetative state, we’d pull the plug ,” Liam explained in an interview with Vanity Fair.
“My immediate thought was, ‘Okay, these tubes have to go. She’s gone.'”
To this day, Liam admits that Natasha’s death still doesn’t feel real. In fact, there are times when he hears the door opening and still expects her to be the one walking through it .
During an appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Liam talked about how his film ‘Made In Italy’ helped him work through his grief.

Made in Italy tells the story of a free-spirited artist reuniting with his estranged son in order to sell the Tuscan home left to them by their deceased wife/mother.
In a true case of art imitating life, Liam’s real-life son, Michaél Richardson, co-stars in the film.

“When I read the script I thought, ‘ Oh my gosh, this is a bit near the knuckle’ . I felt a churning in the gut but thought it would be great to do and to do it with my son,” Neeson explained.
“It was cathartic in a way – the way in which art sometimes can be.”

Liam went on to talk about how Made in Italy had some very delicate emotional scenes, and how he and his son were both able to access those emotions organically .
Michaél, who joined his father for the interview, was quick to point out all the similarities between their situation and the film.

“It was so odd that it was ten years after mum had passed and we were actually selling a family home that she grew up in, so it hit a little harder for us ,” he told the TV host.
As of right now, Liam is still single and has no plans of dating or settling down.

Liam appears to have confined himself to the belief that human beings only ever get one great love of their life. Perhaps in time, his views will change. Although Liam doesn’t deem it likely.
