We’ve all had awkward moments at dinner parties, amirite? And no, I’m not just referring to that iconic episode of The Office . I mean real-life awkward situations that stick with us forever. Moments that wake us up in the middle of the night and make us cringe.
You know, like the awkward moment Kyra Sedwick had while at a party at Tom Cruise’s house 30 years ago that she still can’t live down!

While chatting on The Drew Barrymore Show Kyra revealed the awkward encounter she had at the actor’s house many years ago.
“It was a sad moment, but it’s a funny story,” Kyra joked before explaining the encounter took place around the time her husband, Kevin Bacon, had filmed A Few Good Men with Tom.
“I was pregnant, I was very pregnant, and we got invited over to dinner,” Kyra told the audience.
“We got invited over for dinner with lots of famous people like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, because she was in [ A Few Good Men ]. Rob Reiner was there, it was a flow, and Nicole [Kidman] was there. It was one of those nights that I often don’t get invited to.”
While everyone was there to screen *A Few Good Men* Kyra admitted that she couldn’t help herself and started snooping around Tom’s home.
To be fair, who wouldn’t do this? Kyra — she’s just like us! Unfortunately, this exploration lead to trouble.
“There was this, like, fireplace mantle, and I was looking around and there was this little button underneath the mantel. I was like, ‘Oh what is that little button?'”
“So I pressed the little button because I thought maybe something interesting will happen. Nothing happened and then I got a little nervous.”
When she explained to Tom what she had done, things got super awkward.
“He goes, ‘That’s the panic button’. And so the cops came, they had to stop the screening, they had to see Tom. I think there were more than like five cop cars, it was something.”
“I didn’t get invited back,” Kyra concluded as the audience laughed.
As someone that is also a house snooper, I really can’t blame her! I probably would have done the same thing!
