When the day comes that Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s daughter comes home with a boyfriend who has a motorcycle, they’ll be ready.
The Frozen 2 star just revealed the crazy news that their six-year-old already knows how to ride one!
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard practically wrote the book on parenting.
This pair is just so brilliant and insightful when it comes to raising their two daughters, Lincoln and Delta, together.
They have all sorts of parenting hacks that parents need to steal ASAP, like telling their kids they can touch things, but — and here’s the kicker — only with one finger.
Kristen explained the rule to People :
“So if she wants to touch a vase that I know she shouldn’t, I say, ‘Oh, I want to touch it too. Let’s use one finger!’”
It’s become super effective.
“It makes them feel like they have a little bit of a choice,” explained Bell.
Another great tactic is the creative way Kristen handled their daughter Lincoln asking if Santa is real or not.
During a recent interview with Women’s Day , Kristen explained how she handled the question all parents dread most.
“I pictured her in a more adult situation where she had a sinking feeling in her gut and wanted to ask [a] question,” Bell explained.
In the end, the Frozen 2 actress told her daughter that Santa Claus is “an imaginary game we play because it’s really, really fun.”
This lady can think of her feet!
Ultimately, Kristen wanted to teach her daughter that “when you feel in your gut that something stinks, question it.”
Some of their parenting tactics have also been deemed controversial.
For example, not everyone agrees with how they lock their kids in their bedroom at night.
“My 3-year-old decided to stop sleeping about nine months ago,” Bell said .
“And every night, when we put her to bed, she turns the lights on, which annoys the 4-year-old, and she will move furniture, and she bangs on the door with different, hard toys.”
To handle this, the parents switched the doorknob.
“We turned the lock on the outside.”
And, speaking of controversial parenting tactics, get a load of this: Dax taught their six-year-old how to ride a motorcycle.
But, it turns out that there’s a really good reason for it.
Kristen shared all the details during a recent episode of the YouTube series “Hiking with Kevin,” with host Kevin Nealon.
After sharing that she got her motorcycle license during her first year of dating Dax to impress him, she also revealed that the “Armchair Expert” podcast host is teaching their daughters how to ride motorcycles.
But rest assured that it’s all in the name of safety.
“[Dax] said to me, ‘I want you to know why I’m doing this. Because when [Lincoln is] 16 and she’s got a boyfriend who rides a motorcycle, there is not a girl who rides well in the world that would get on the back of a boyfriend’s motorcycle,'” she said.
“‘If she rides, she’s gonna want to either ride her own or he’s gonna be on the back. And I want to know that she has the training from me and the wherewithal to do it.’”
“‘I don’t want her on the back of some 16-year-old bozo who doesn’t know how to drive.'”
Dax continued:
“‘So I will give her the skills that she needs to be cautious and prepared, and that way we know she’s in charge and not at the whim of some 16-year-old who just got his license.’”
As it turns out, riding motorcycles isn’t the only adventurous thing the kids do.
The family also goes to the sand dunes regularly to go dune buggying.
“I have car seats strapped to the back [of my dune buggy],” Dax had joked to host Seth Meyers in 2017.
“I strap their car seats into the five-point harness and then the car seats have a little harness and they have these cute earmuffs.”
“The girls know [thumbs up] is faster, [thumbs down] is slower, and they kinda drive,” Shepard added.
Now that we’ve digested all of this information, we’re gonna need to hop onto a motorcycle, stat, since a six-year-old is now officially cooler than us.
