Kim Kardashian declared the 4th of July canceled in a controversial Instagram post about reproductive rights.
Kim is no stranger to headlines, although they might usually be more about her love life , her family , or some accusations of photoshop . This time, Kim’s in the news for speaking out about the recent overturning of Roe v Wade .
Kim acknowledged the 4th of July by sharing a post related to the overturning of Roe v Wade.
“4th of July has been canceled due to a shortage of Independence. Sincerely, Women,” read a post made by @bitton that both Kim and her mother Kris Jenner shared to their story.
Other celebrities also spoke out.
“‘Baby you’re a firework’ is a 10 but women in the US have fewer rights than an actual sparkler smh,” tweeted Katy Perry , referencing her smash hit
Jessica Chastain shared a snap of herself flipping off the camera with the caption “Happy ‘Independence’ Day from me and my reproductive rights,”
Padma Lakshmi shared a similar message along with a red, white, and blue cake.
“No matter what, we’ll keep fighting for the day where all humans have the same rights, at least of their own person and body, have privacy to make their own choices and to love whom they love and live in peace,” she shared .
Not everyone was on board with Kim’s message.
However, some fans backed her up, with one tweeting , “It’s sad @KimKardashian spits the truth about 4th of July and gets responses from negative people who have no grasp of it. This is American failure to tell it’s people the truth. I love you Kim and the entire family of course.”
