A scary piece of news to get about any family member, Justin Bieber’s grandmother was recently involved in a very serious, nearly fatal car crash in the star’s hometown of Stratford, Ontario in Canada.
What started as someone trying to identify the owner of one of the cars involved turned into another relative sharing all the details from the accident, and how close it was to being an even bigger disaster.
Justin Bieber’s grandmother was in a harrowing car crash.
The wreck took place in the pop star’s hometown of Stratford, Ontario, where much of his family still lives, with news about it having originally been posted to a local community Facebook page about classic cars.
A photo of the aftermath was posted.

The image shows two very damaged cars being tended to by a firefighter, the one in the back still sporting some flames.
The person who uploaded the photo originally did so to see if they could identify who the car in the front belonged to.
A man named Brandan Steven came forward.
Steven, who is also related to Justin, said the car belonged to Kathy Bieber with whom he was driving at the time of the crash.
Kathy is Justin’s grandmother on his father, Jeremy’s, side.
Steven also shared details of the accident.
When someone asked what happened, he replied, “[We] were at a dead stop as a car was turning left a couple cars in front of us. Then a distracted driver rear ended us they say she had to be doing 70.”
They’re both safe, but it was a close call.

Steven continued, saying, “Wasn’t good had to pull my grandmother out of car. [Could] have been very bad if we were in there for even another 5 seconds as the doors were binded shut.”
Luckily everyone is alive and well, and Steven’s quick thinking got them both out safely!
