Jack Schlossberg expressed his anger towards Donald Trump after the declassification of files regarding his grandfather John F Kennedy’s assassination.
Trump had announced it at the start of his term
Shortly after the inauguration of Donald Trump in January, the 47th President of the United States had announced that he would be releasing classified documents regarding the assassination of three high profile American figures: John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King.
JFK’s files were revealed on Tuesday
After having made the promise in January, Donald Trump finally revealed the previously classified files regarding JFK’s assassination on Tuesday 18 March, according to CNN.
The 36th president was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963, who was also shot soon after. JFK’s death is of public interest partly because it triggered decades-long conspiracy theories.
His grandson doesn’t seem too happy
While many had been anticipating the declassification of the files since Trump said he would release them to the public, one person was clearly not happy about it and it was JFK’s grandson, John Schlossberg.
Schlossberg works as a political correspondent for Vogue magazine and his mother is the only surviving child of JFK and former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
Schlossberg expressed his anger online
Taking to X/Twitter on Wednesday 19 March, the political correspondent expressed his anger with the declassification of files regarding his grandfather’s assassination.
“No — THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION DID NOT GIVE ANYONE IN PRESIDENT KENNEDY’S FAMILY ‘A HEADS UP’ ABOUT THE RELEASE. a total surprise, and not shocker!! But @RobertKennedyJr definitely knew,” he wrote, referring to JFK’s son.
People on social media thought he would’ve known
Under his tweet, a few users felt as though he would have known from how often it had been spoken about, with one person sternly writing, “I mean, they’ve only been saying it for how long now? If you didn’t know it was coming then that’s on you.”
Another person asked, “He’s been saying he was going to release those files for years. how you could not possibly know seems like a lie. or maybe you thought he was joking and would never do it. but how did I know it was coming yet you, a Kennedy, didn’t.”
Schlossberg also ranted on Instagram
Although he had expressed his anger on X/Twitter, Schlossberg also took to Instagram to further highlight his annoyance with the whole thing.
Posting a video of himself standing in front of a CNN news broadcast covering the file declassification, he said, “You’re better than this. This is so f***ing stupid, there’s so much actual news going on, why are you covering this?”
“At least report that something happened, why are you guys covering this? Stop. This is why this s**t takes hold, because you guys f***ing cover it over and over and over again,” he added.
