Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau are sort of like YouTube’s weirdest power couple. Jake has millions of subscribers, Tana has millions of subscribers, and scandals seem to follow them like moths to a flame. Sounds like a perfect match, right?
People have been questioning the legitimacy of their relationship from the start, including the couple themselves. In a video Jake said, “I love trolling the internet, and this was a perfect example and way to do that cause it’s just fun. It’s like somewhat real, but at the same time just like messing around with it and I don’t know, we’ll see where it goes.”

Despite only being together a few weeks, Jake and Tana already got matching tattoos.
The couple opted to get tally marks for every week they’d been together, which added up to a whopping seven whole tallies. That might seem like a pretty serious step to take together, but it looks like Tana and Jake are all about serious.
Well, it just got even more serious.
Tana just turned 21, and despite just “seeing where it goes,” Jake had some big surprises in store for her birthday celebration. Not only did he buy her a Mercedes (you read that right) he also got her an engagement ring.
Yep. Despite having only been dating for a couple months, it looks like Jake’s proposed.
Tana shared these pictures onto her Instagram story — one of an elaborate wedding cake that reads, “Will you marry me, Tana?” and one of a huge diamond glittering on her left hand’s ring finger.
Tana also tweeted about the big news.
Fans were immediately skeptical, given the couple’s shady history. People demanded pictures, or said that they were just doing this for attention.
Well, we have the pictures, but the jury’s still out on the attention claim…
Tana insists they’re serious.
She tweeted out explicitly that it wasn’t a joke, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s telling the truth. Jake has pulled this kind of stunt before, going as far as faking an entire wedding with his then-girlfriend, only to reveal it all as a joke later.

Some experts think they have proof that this whole thing is a sham.
The proof, according to founder of The Diamond Co. Ira Weissman, lies in the video Tana posted of herself showing off the sparkly, huge diamond ring that Jake proposed with.
Weissman had some interesting points.
Weissman told E! News that there was a lot shady about this video.
“You can see the exaggerated sparkling light reflecting off of something in the bottom right of the frame in the beginning of the clip. This is exactly what you would want to use to try to enhance the sparkle of a simulated diamond to make it look like the real thing,” he says.
He also pointed out the zoom in on the stone wasn’t convincing.
“Plus, the glassy look of the very large center stone as it’s brought closer to the camera also points heavily towards it being a cubic zirconia.”
People close to the couple are believing the rumors, though.
Tana’s ex girlfriend, singer/actress Bella Thorne, shared these images of herself crying on her Instagram with the caption “When ur ex gets engaged” followed by a string of crying emojis.
Bella’s birthday post for Tana was a lot more positive.
Bella also shared this steamy shot of the former couple in happier times, captioning it “Through thick and thin. I love you tana happy bday you beautiful beautiful special girl.”
Bella also got a bit defensive of her ex on Twitter.
When someone suggested Jake should make Tana sign a prenup, Bella responded that HE was the one who should sign instead.
