Trips to the grocery store usually tend to come and go without incident. It’s probably one of the last places you’d ever imagine running into a celebrity — least of all an A-list star like Justin Timberlake .
But over this past weekend, a TikTok user named @dougyanthony shocked the internet by posting a video of himself at Target being assisted by none other than JT. It’s left the internet reeling, causing widespread confusion among fans.

It’s safe to say that Justin Timberlake is one of the most prolific and beloved celebrities on the entire planet.
Whether you know Justin from his days as the co-frontman of N*SYNC, his incendiary solo career, or his always hilarious SNL skits — suffice it to say that the man has talent oozing out of his pores.
He’s a superstar, for lack of a better word. The kind of generational talent you’ll see once, maybe twice in your lifetime. So of course, he’d never be caught dead doing anything so normal as shopping at Target — right?
You’d think so but you’d be wrong! Just this past weekend, Justin decided to give TikTok user @dougyanthony a hand with his groceries.
The video shows Justin on the other side of the cashier’s conveyer belt, carefully scanning items for @dougyanthony. The one peculiar thing, however, is that instead of putting the items in a bag — Justin appears to place them back on the shelf.
He’s also wearing normal street clothes as opposed to the normal Target uniform: a red shirt and khaki pants. This prompted many people to question whether or not the person in the video was actually Justin.
However, the paranoia and uncertainty didn’t last long.
A quick peruse of Doug’s TikTok account reveals that there’s more than one video featuring Justin Timberlake! In the previous post, the video shows Justin and Doug dancing in the parking lot, and listening to Kendrick Lamar on the new speaker they just bought.
In case that wasn’t enough, Doug also captioned the video “JT said show them we all real.” There’s also a comment from former N8SYNC bandmate Lance Bass that reads “This guy looks oddly familiar . I can’t place it.”
There’s even a video that shows Justin and Doug dancing in the kitchen of someone’s house!
Presumably, Justin is inside Doug’s house. After carefully combing through the comments, it would appear that Justin and Doug do in fact know one another and that they may even be old friends .
So if that’s the case, why all the confusion? Is Justin just having fun or is there something bigger at play that we aren’t quite grasping? And if so — what is it?
The first and most logical possibility is that Justin is FINALLY joining TikTok!
If you’re a fan of Justin’s then you’re probably already well aware that the star has as of yet abstained from joining TikTok. It’s very possible that this series of videos could be Justin’s way of teasing his fans about what’s to come.
Also, if you look carefully at the video where Justin is scanning items at the Target checkout, you’ll see the hashtag #hesaidnohateandhewillstartatiktok.
Another possibility (albeit unlikely) is that Justin could be teasing a potential N*SYNC reunion tour!
I know that might sound like a leap so allow me to explain. Go back to the video where Justin and Doug are dancing in the kitchen and take a careful read through some of the comments.
You’ll see that there’s an overwhelming amount of people who mention how badly they want N*SYNC to tour. One user who goes by the handle @shakeiflah says “Tell your friend we are ready for a reunion tour.”
To which Doug answers “Hmm something maybe in the works.”
Doug’s cryptic remarks sent his followers into a tailspin. Countless people began telling him not to play with their emotions or get their hopes up.
“Maybe the world needs something to lift it up,” Doug said optimistically. “Never know.”
