Ethan Suplee who starred in the series My Name Is Earl and blockbusters like The Wolf of Wall Street and American History X used to weigh more than 500 pounds at the age of 24.
Now at the age of 48, the actor shows a remarkable achievement of losing over 200 pounds in weight and has been able to successfully maintain it.

Following his work in My Name Is Earl between the years 2005 and 2009, Suplee started losing weight.
By the time the actor was promoting his 2010 movie Unstoppable, he appeared on the red carpet for the first time after having lost over 200 pounds.
He followed a fitness routine
Instead of undergoing any of the traditionally followed diets, the actor decided to follow a fitness routine that focused on strength training. He balanced the training with a diet centered around eating whole foods.
Suplee kept fans updated on his fitness journey through posting progress photos on his Instagram account.

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, the actor shared how he was able to lose weight and achieve a toned body.
“I’m at my absolute pinnacle,” the actor said of the recent photos where his toned abs are visible.
The actor is now proud of his body
“I spent 35, 40 years without taking my shirt off in public,” Suplee admitted.
The actor also added that his progress photos were not edited or enhanced, saying, “The shadows haven’t been enhanced. There’s loose skin. There are scars. This is who I am.”
He explained the importance of his diet
The actor achieved another milestone last year where he reached nine percent body fat. He explained that an adjusted diet was part of the reason he gained his toned abs.
Suplee shared that he spent weeks tweaking his diet to reach the right carbohydrates and sodium intake.

“I was wondering if we could go further—eight percent or seven percent body fat,” the actor shared.
“But then I thought about all the wacky diets I’ve done over the years and realized that I can’t keep doing this,” he added.
The actor made sure not to go too far
Suplee admitted that he had to think twice about pushing his body fat percentage goals any further than what he’s already achieved, saying, “Do I want to walk around looking like I look in those pictures? Honestly, I’m not sure I have what it takes.”
Suplee aims to maintain his physique
Since the actor decided he doesn’t feel like pushing the weight loss further, he now aims to maintain his current physique.
Although his instinct for a long time has been to lose more weight, Suplee decided he’s trying to be happy with his “maintenance period.”
He pointed out the importance of education
Suplee highlighted the importance of understanding how weight loss and maintenance work before undertaking such a challenge.
“I used to think that losing weight was all about willpower, but that’s not entirely true,” The Wolf of Wall Street actor shared.
The knowledge is crucial for keeping a goal
“If you don’t have useful information, what are you going to impose your will on?” the actor added, speaking about the importance of understanding the process of weight loss.
The actor also shared that he now prioritizes doing what he loves and enjoying his life as well as bonding with his kids.
