Adrien Brody was on the red carpet when Halle Berry turned him around and planted a kiss on his lips, giving Brody a taste of his own medicine at the 2025 Oscars.
It was a recreation of an older kiss
58-year-old Berry kissed the 51-year-old actor on the 2025 Oscars red carpet as a way of recreating their famous Academy Awards kiss from 2003.

Berry approached Brody on the red carpet
The actress was caught on camera as she approached The Brutalist star with her arms open and planted a kiss on his lips before the two of them laughed and shared a warm hug.
Right before the kiss she gave a quick glance at his wife Georgina Chapman, and saying, “Sorry Georgina but I gotta do it.”
The moment back in 2003
The 2025 kiss comes 22 years after Brody first kissed Berry on the Oscars stage in 2003 after she announced him the winner of Best Actor for his role in The Pianist.
Brody kissed Berry in a moment of excitement and in his acceptance speech joked, “I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag.”
Berry has since said that the kiss was not planned, sharing in a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that she “knew nothing about it” beforehand.
The 2003 kiss has since been criticized
Although it was laughed off at the time, the 2003 kiss has since been criticized with Brody telling Variety earlier this month, “We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing, and nothing that I ever do or have done or would’ve done is ever done with the intention of making anyone feel bad.”
Berry and Brody are quite close
Many have criticized Brody on behalf of Berry, but the two seem to be close with the latter congratulating the former on his Golden Globe win in January with a comment on his post, “Congratulations my friend. You are truly one of one!”
