Nitpicking culture is out of control.
Hailey Bieber (neé Baldwin) recently made an Instagram post expressing her gratitude for the world around her.
And this is the internet, so of course, someone was offended.
Here’s the sitch.
Hailey Bieber comes from a famous family
She is the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin (Alec Baldwin’s brother) and graphic designer Kennya Deodato Baldwin.
She’s an incredibly successful model. She’s currently signed with one of the biggest agencies in the world, IMG models, and is the face of Levi’s.
She married Justin Bieber in 2018

The two secretly wed in November of 2018 after an on again, off again relationship that began in 2015.
She now goes by Hailey Bieber, including on all of her social media.
Recently, she took to Instagram to express positivity

I wanna make this perfectly clear: literally all she did was say to remember to be grateful because it’s good for her soul.
All she posted was a shot of nature, and some words. This will become important soon.
See, she didn’t express gratitude for riches or fame

But to be able to sit outside and enjoy the world around her.
This is the least controversial thing she could have posted. She’s happy by a simple thing, which is the sun.
That’s it!
She finished with another completely normal statement

“It’s the little things in life,” is a normal thing to say, and a well-known saying.
She posted a variation on that. And she’s right! A small thing can bring you happiness. It won’t fix the world, but it might make your world okay for a moment.
One Instagram account decided that this was not the tea

@newsbaldwin, which is a Hailey fan account, posted her story to their account.
Another account, @thingsbaristassay, commented on that post.
“My husband is worth 265 million, but it’s the little things that make me happy ha ha ha”
Apparently, Hailey checks her fan accounts

Because she was not impressed with that comment.
She said: “money doesn’t=happiness. At all. You can be the wealthiest person in the planet and be miserable. Not fair to judge people’s circumstances from the outside.. am I not allowed to be grateful to sit in the sunshine and enjoy my day like a regular person?”
Sidebar: Money actually does buy happiness

According to a study, people who are richer are happier.
This is a no-brainer. People with money have access to things we associate with “happiness,” aka more luxurious lifestyles.
But more importantly, they have access to the best health care, education, and opportunities. Sorry, Hailey.
However!

The overall message of what she was saying is right!
I can’t imagine being mad at someone for saying that they’re grateful to be outdoors, in the sun.
Like, first of all…those are free activities.
And second of all, being grateful for the little things is not a bad thing

It’s not bad advice. It may not be something that everyone relates to, but there’s nothing offensive about it.
If you want to be grateful for the sunshine, be grateful!
As someone who lives somewhere rainy, I’m definitely grateful to see that big ‘ol ball of fire whenever she comes out.
While what Hailey said isn’t entirely applicable to all of us

Its core message is solid.
The wealthiest person on the planet can be miserable…but they have money with which to improve not only their circumstances mentally, but other people’s, as well.
Basically, she’s a little off, but her heart is in the right place.
It seems Justin Bieber was down with her words, as well

@newsbaldwin posted a very excited update to this weird tale.
Justin Bieber liked their post, which led to a small freakout for the account. They thanked Justin for the likes and attention.
They also had something to say in the original post

After the incident and all the comments, @newsbaldwin made a new post addressing the whole situation.
They wrote: “If you do not have anything positive to say then keep your mouth shut.”
And then continued:

“The unnecessary hate needs to stop, @haileybieber keep living your best life and ignore what kiddos says on the internet.”
While some comments can be constructive, the ones in this situation weren’t. They were unnecessary, as they said.
Looks like the original post has changed

Likely because of all the spam, it looks like the original post’s comments have been disabled.
Use the internet for good, guys. And don’t pick fights about people being grateful for the sun , of all things.
