Many kids grow up expecting mom and dad to provide money for them to do things with their friends. Sometimes, parents have to show them some tough love and teach their kids that they have to earn that cold, hard cash.
While some parents are down with giving their kids an allowance, it can be costly.
There are some parents who don’t mind giving their kids money to do things recreationally.
Other times, parents think money should be earned.

Other parents think kids should earn their money to go out and do fun things, pushing their children to get a part-time job once they’re old enough.
However, some kids are too young for the work force.

Instead of pushing them to get a job, having kids earn their money around the house is a great way to teach responsibility.
One mom found the perfect way to have her kids earn their allowance.

Shaketha Marion McGregor of Dublin, Georgia got sick and tired of her kids always asking for money, so she hosted a job fair.
Shaketha hosted the “job fair” at home and had a few different positions for her kids to choose from.

There was a kitchen manager position, a lead housekeeper position, and a laundry supervisor position open.
She even made applications for all of her kids to fill out.

That’s right — like a real job.
Each kid had to be interviewed, too.

No one gets a job out in the real world without an interview, why should this be any different?
She also created her own “credit union.”

There’s nothing more important than teaching your kids about credit and how to build their own credit.
Having kids earn their allowance not only helps in the house, but teaches them responsibility.
Nothing in life is handed out, therefore it’s important for kids to learn that everything in life is earned.
People online absolutely loved this idea.
Shaketha got so much love on social media from other moms and parents, with everyone saying how smart this idea was — some even copying it.
Shaketha ended up creating her own Facebook page about her “business.”
