Controversy has been sparked in the royal family again at the Royal Remembrance Sunday Service this past weekend.
During the family’s annual tradition of honoring veterans and those who have fought to protect their country’s rights and freedoms, Prince Harry’s request for a wreath to be placed in his honor was denied , according to People .
Now, fans are taking to social media to express their frustration.
As many royal fans know, Prince Harry served in the British Army for 10 years.
For those who are unfamiliar, the prince rose to the rank of Captain and undertook two tours of duty in Afghanistan during his decade-long career.
The Remembrance Day service is a time-honored tradition for the royal family and one that Harry has always participated in alongside his brother, Prince William, and his father, Prince Charles.

This year, however, was very different.
According to *People* Harry had requested a wreath of poppies be laid at the national memorial in his honor as he would not be attending the ceremony this year.

Unfortunately, palace officials denied Harry’s request because he and wife Meghan Markle are no longer working members of the institution.
*People* claims Harry was “saddened and disappointed” that his family did not honor his wishes.

A source told People that Harry “understands that he doesn’t have the same formal role in the family as he used to. But he was saddened and disappointed by the decision.”
In response to the diss, Harry and Meghan had their own private service in California, paying tribute at the gravesites of two fallen soldiers who fought for Commonwealth armed forces — one who had served in the Royal Australian Air Force, and one from the Royal Canadian Artillery.

The couple used flowers from their own garden to adorn the gravestones.
Of course, many people tried to hate on Harry and Meghan’s visit and try to pass it off as a PR stunt.
A source close to Prince Harry told British publication The Sun that he would never do such a thing.
“I don’t think [Harry’s] someone who does something like Remembrance Sunday as a publicity stunt,” the source said.
To add fuel to the fire, *The Sun* published a photo of the unused wreath.

The wreath, meant for Harry’s tribute, lay unused in a factory in Kent.
It was reported by People that the Queen was not consulted about the decision involving her grandson’s wreath.
Naturally, people were incredibly disappointed in the family’s decision to leave Harry out of the ceremony, and took to Twitter to express their frustrations.
“Given Prince Harry actually served in combat, and the amount he’s done for veterans health & support, it’s pretty sick the @RoyalFamily wouldn’t even lay [a] wreath on his behalf,” tweeted @RespectIsVital .
Fan account @SussexPrincess pointed out that Harry is one of the few royal family members to have actively served in the British Army.
“It’s Prince Harry, one of the only 4 members of the British Royal Family to serve in active duty, twice might I add, continuously being abused and berated by his own family for making the decision to protect his wife and son..,” they tweeted
“It’s [expletive] the Royal Family Forever, for me.”
“Thank you Harry!” tweeted veteran @Shakar_Ja. “His family is one nasty bunch,” he concluded.
“I’m not a fan of the Royals but for Prince Harry who has given military service and campaigned for veterans to be refused the honour of laying a wreath seems very spiteful,” agreed @KatyJayne101.
Needless to say it’s clear fans are upset at the diss and believe Harry deserves more respect from his family.
