The LA fires led to myriad losses and tragedy, and Chris Pratt, 45, reveals that his ex-wife’s house was no exception. Anna Faris, 48, unfortunately, lost her home to the fires, though Pratt was lucky enough to learn that his house is safe.
Pratt took to Instagram to share the latest updates on his house and that of Faris, and how the fires have affected them.
Pratt’s latest updates
In an Instagram video Pratt posted on Wednesday, January 22, he said: “Alright, I’m going to go check out my house. Miraculously it’s still standing. By the grace of God, we have four walls and a roof.”
He also added that he was going to check out his house and the area, given that he hadn’t been able to do so since the Palisades fires.
His house might have survived, but his ex’s didn’t
“It’s truly devastating, as you know. Silver lining is my house was saved but, at the same time, so many people’s houses were burned around us and the community’s gone. My son’s school is gone. My son’s mom’s house burned down,” he continued in his video.
More about Pratt’s family
Pratt was married to Faris from 2009 until they divorced in 2018, having given birth to their son Jack, 12, during their time together.
Afterwards, he married Katherine Schwarzenegger, 35, in 2019. Together, they share Lyla, 4, Eloise, 2, and Ford, 2 months, while Faris married cinematographer Michael Barrett in 2021.
He’ll keep everyone posted
Pratt promised to keep his fans updated as he learns more about the situation in LA.
He captioned the video, saying: “It’s been a tough few weeks, but we’re resilient. Praying for LA and all those impacted, we’ll get through this together. God bless.”
More about the fires
It all started on January 7, when Santa Ana gusts caused an extreme wind storm, sparking fast-burning brush fires that ended up wreaking havoc in Los Angeles.
Currently, the fires are 70% contained, however, more than 23,000 acres of land have burned and so far, 28 people have lost their lives due to the fires.
Faris isn’t the only celebrity
Paris Hilton also lost her house to the fires. She told TMZ: “I’m just heartbroken for everyone who’s lost everything. Families with children, animals. It’s just been heartbreaking to see what’s happened to California.”
She also shared that the events inspired her son Pheonix, 2, to become a firefighter.
Nina Dobrev was also lucky
Chris Pratt is not the only celebrity whose house survived the fires, Nina Dobrev’s did as well. However, Dobrev feels “survivor’s guilt,” having shared an Instagram video where she vented about people’s conditions due to the fires and how she feels bad about this.
“They’ve lost everything”
“I put myself in the shoes of all these people whose homes have burned down to the ground with their belongings, their memories, their everything that made them feel safe in the world now gone, and their insurance dropped them,” she said in her Instagram video on January 19.
“For some of them, the level of tragedy is immeasurable and it’s really hard to comprehend. They’ve lost everything,” she added.
More celebrities who lost their homes
Many celebrities lost their homes to the fires, including Ben Affleck, Billy Crystal, Bill Hader, and Jamie Lee Curtis, among many others.
Bill Hader talked to KTLA5 about how unreal it felt when he visited his home’s remains. He was left in shock.
Pratt is grateful for his community and followers
He talked about how “Dozens of our friends lost their homes,” without specifying who they are, but he expressed his gratitude to the community and his followers for their support, saying: “It’s been inspiring to see how our communities come together.”
