There are definitely unique baby names that will be tough to find on necklaces, key chains, and bookmarks for the child in question. I knew a girl named Hayle-Leigh (pronounced like Hayley) growing up who could never find her name on anything! When it comes to celebrities, the names can get even more unique: Apple, Audio Science, and North West come to mind.
None of those names compare to Elon Musk’s son with musician Grimes.
On May 4th, 2020, Elon Musk announced the birth of his son on Twitter, writing, “Mom & baby all good.”
Then, when a fan asked for the name of the baby, Elon surprised pretty much everyone by answering “X Æ A-12.”
This caused a lot of confusion, with fans wondering both what it meant and how to say it.
Grimes took to Twitter to explain the meaning behind the name.
She explained that “X” stood for the unknown variable, and Æ was her “elven spelling” of AI, or Artificial Intelligence, and that the A-12 came from an aircraft that both her and Musk are fans of.

According to Elon, the name is pronounced mostly how it looks.
“First of all, my partner’s the one that mostly came up with the name,” Elon began, and then added, “I mean it’s just X, the letter X, and the ‘Æ’ is pronounced, ‘Ash,’ and then, A-12 is my contribution.”
Problem solved? Not quite.
Grimes now seems to contradict that pronunciation with a comment she left on her Instagram.
According to Grimes, the Æ is pronounced like the letters “A. I.”
So which is the truth?!
