Eva Mendes is using Instagram to connect with other women who understand her struggles, and fans are loving how open and honest she’s being!
Most recently, she opened up about her relationship with food — something everyone understands.
Instead of using Instagram to exclusively show off the high points of her life, Eva Mendes is keepin’ it real with her fans.
Earlier this week, she opened up on the Gram about the importance of being transparent.
But the real takeaway was her seemingly candid remarks about her relationship with food.
While everyone’s relationship with food might be different, we all have one.
So, this was super relatable!
After sharing a photo, campaigning for her fashion line, Eva Mendes Collection from New York & Company, she commented, admitting that the photo was retouched.
Something not many people would feel comfortable to confess — especially to such a large audience.
But Eva has always been fairly body-positive. Not long ago, she fended off a troll that made a negative comment regarding her age.
After being called “old”, Eva replied : “Yes your right. Thank God I’m getting old”.
“That means I’m still here. I’m gonna be 46 soon and grateful everyday that I’m aging.”
“Was your comment suppose to make me feel bad?,” she asked .
“It didn’t. It makes me feel grateful.”
“So thank you for the reminder that I’m still here,” she concluded .
That was one hell of a clap-back!

Anyways, after a fan commented this on her photo, she got real about her online appearance.
It’s rare to see a celebrity respond to fan comments.
But I guess Eva is no ordinary celeb because she commented thoroughly .
“Thank you for saying this. I take so much joy from connecting to other women,” Eva replied.
“It means so much to me. Even just a quick exchange .”
She explained that although it’s difficult for her to keep up with social media, she loves using it to connect with her fellow women.
“I struggle with social media but I love the constant connection with women.”
“Instagram can be hurtful in that way,” she went on. “Like with this picture”.
She then revealed that while she looks stunning in the photo, it didn’t exactly happen organically.
“This is actually a campaign shot and it was retouched. So I want women to know that,” she wrote.
“I want women to know it takes a lot for me to look this way”.
She admitted that, like many people, her relationship with food isn’t always easy.
“And that I struggle with food among many other things,” she added .
She encouraged her fans to always call her out if they ever catch her not being authentic online.
“So thank you again for your comment and feel free to call me out on [expletive] If you see it.”
She also responded to the fan’s suggestion that she should show more of her husband, Ryan Gosling, on her Instagram page.
“My man and kids are private,” she wrote .
“That’s important to me so thanks for getting that. Have a beautiful day. Sending so much love! ❤️.”
