Who here loves to enjoy their backyard with their dogs ? Ah, it’s always fun to play catch with a furry friend.
However, you’ve got to remember that your dogs need to be well hydrated — especially in summer. So, don’t forget to put out a bowl of water for Fido. But how do you keep those pesky ants from getting inside your dog’s bowl ? Here’s how.
If you often hang out with your dog outdoors, you know that a bowl of water is essential.
Our pet pals get very hot, especially in the heat of the summer. But how many times have you found ants in your dog’s bowl?
I bet it’s a lot, huh? Isn’t that so annoying or what?
I don’t know how but these pesky ants always find their way inside the dog’s water bowl. Ugh! But listen up, I have the perfect solution for this problem.
I saw a super cool video on TikTok, and I just had to share this simple solution with you all.
In the video, the guy puts out a bowl of water for his dog outside. But, he does something I’ve never seen before.
Apparently, he swears by this easy trick.
Are you ready? Okay, so he uses chalk to deter ants from getting into his dog’s water bowl. OMG, what? How is it that I’ve never heard of that? Let me tell you more.
All you need to do is draw something around your dog’s bowl with the chalk.
In this case, the gentleman drew a heart. Aww, that’s so sweet. Isn’t it? So, why does chalk repel ants, you ask? Well, let me tell you.
As it turns out, chalk is made out of calcium carbonate, which is essentially ground-up seashells.
A chalk line disturbs the ant’s ability to follow scent trails left by other ants. So if you draw a chalk outline around your bowl, they won’t cross it.
A-ha! Now I get it.
No wonder my mom always told me to put chalk around the entryways of my house. This trick will definitely deter ants from getting inside. And it works the same with your dog’s water bowl outside.
This video is so popular on TikTok it got a staggering 539K likes.
Wow, that’s a lot, huh? Everybody is so excited about this hack they’re trying it out not only with the dog bowls but inside their house, too. (No word on if this hack is effective against aunts, though._
So, what’s your take on this hack?
Do you think it actually works? I want to know if you tried it with your dog bowl. And if it worked for you, let me know in the comments below. We’ve got to protect our pet’s water from pests, no?
