Anyone who’s worked in the food service industry can tell you that conditions can easily cause employees to reach a breaking point. It’s fast-paced, tiring, and often thankless work, which is a recipe for burnout.
That’s apparently what happened in a now-viral TikTok that shows two kitchen workers quitting their job…right in the middle of the dinner rush.
It went down at a Domino’s Pizza location.

Domino’s, known for its nationwide network of fast-service pizza restaurants, generally experiences lunch and dinner rushes. It was in the middle of one of these dinner rushes that two managers reached their breaking point.
They up and quit.

In the video , you can see that the two managers — apparently the only two employees working that day — are fighting a losing battle against the dinner rush. The food stations are messy and there aren’t enough workers to do what needs to be done.
The managers got out of there.

“This is the end. Final moments. We’re leaving it just how we [expletive] found it. [Expletive] this job,” said TikToker @mikaylaprindevill, succinctly.
With a final kiss-off, they quit.

The video, which has three million views, is just eleven seconds long. But it’s become a bit of a sensation. Its short runtime offers a snapshot of a scene many low-wage workers know all too well, that of workers who are understaffed and overworked.
Commenters were largely sympathetic.

We seem to have reached a point, thankfully, where the average person sympathizes more with blue collar workers than they do with billion dollar corporations, so the comments on Mikayla’s video were mostly supportive.
They released a follow-up to explain the situation.

“It was just Cody [the other manager] and I inside, and one delivery driver,” Mikayla explains.
“Our delivery zone spans across about six towns. So unless orders come in perfectly where we can do nice doubles and triples that are quick, the driver can be on the road for up to an hour per run. With that being said, we had about 15 deliveries on the board, maybe a little more, and then like five or six on the heat rack waiting for him.”
She probably didn’t expect this response.

“We were never going to catch up, the delivery times were, like, five to six hours, and this was at nine o’clock so we’re closing in four hours, so any deliveries on top of what we already had were definitely not getting delivered that night,” said Mikayla.

Mikayla’s explanation video shares some horror stories about working at her Domino’s location. Once again, most of the comments were supportive, because many of us have been in similar workplace situations.
What do you think?
