Back in 2015, the Swedish-American actor Dolph Lundgren announced that doctors had found a tumor on his kidney. He was diagnosed with cancer that would eventually get worse before it got better.
Recently, the Creed II actor posted a video from his hospital bed where he shared the exciting news that he would be “finally cancer free.”
The actor was first diagnosed in 2015
The Rocky IV star was diagnosed for the first time in 2015 when doctors found a tumor on his kidney which the actor himself reported was removed.
This allowed things to settle with his health for the next five years.
Lundgren had to go back to the doctor’s
The actor who starred in Universal Soldier said that he had sought out medical advice five years after the tumor was removed as he was experiencing frequent acid reflux.
The doctors then conducted a few more checks to advise him on the situation.
The doctors found more tumors
Upon further medical inspection of his abdomen, the actor shared that doctors discovered “a few more tumors.”
This called for the actor to go into surgery in order to remove the six tumors, with another one later being discovered on his liver.
Doctors told Lundgren to stay at home
The actor shared that the tumor later found on his liver was too big to be surgically removed as it was “the size of a small lemon.”
This prompted doctors to advise Lundgren to stay home and spend more time with his family.
Lundgren asked the doctors about his life expectancy
After being told to spend his time mindfully, the Swedish-American actor asked the doctor how long he had left.
They then responded by telling him, “Two to three years,” which upset the actor enough to make him think that the end was near.
Lundgren then got specialist treatments
There was a mutation in the actor’s tumor, which another doctor discovered while he was seeking a second opinion.
The mutation was similar to the ones among people who suffer from lung cancer, which prompted him to receive specialist treatments.
The actor is now cancer-free
After those treatments, Lundgren recently announced to his fans in a video posted to his Instagram account that he was to be cancer-free.
He admitted that the journey had been a “rough ride” but that he was going into surgery to get rid of the last tumor.
The actor explained his health situation
In the video, Lundgren explained from the hospital bed, “Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I’ll be cancer-free, so I’m looking forward to this procedure.”
“It’s been a rough ride and really taught me how to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life, I mean, it’s the only way to go,” he added.
The video was taken before his surgery
The Master of the Universe actor had been filming this video update for his fans right before going into his final surgery to remove the tumor on his liver.
Lundgren ended the video saying, “Alright, they’re coming to get me, see ya.”
The surgery went well
A few hours after the video was posted on his Instagram account on November 26, the actor came back to the social media app to thank fans for their well wishes on his Instagram stories.
In previous years, the actor had speculated that his use of steroids could have contributed to the cancer, but luckily, Lundgren is now well.
