I’m not a summer person. I’m one of those annoying people who spend the summer just counting down the days to sweater weather and crisp fall leaves and all the back-end holidays that come in the latter half of the year.
Most notably, I’m always excited for Christmas, and this year Dolly Parton has given me something to be extra excited about.
Dolly is no stranger to Christmas music.
Dolly released Home For Christmas in 1990, and Once Upon A Christmas with Kenny Rogers in 1984, but seeing as it’s been over 20 years since her last dalliance into the world of holiday music, Dolly felt it was time.
She recently announced a new Christmas album called *A Holly Dolly Christmas*.
The album, of course, was named after Burt Ives’ classic song, “A Holly Jolly Christmas.”
“He used to be on all of my Christmas specials all through the years. I think of him as Mr. Christmas,” Dolly explained , announcing that the album would be available on October 2nd.
Dolly has given us the first taste of her new album with her first release from the album.
“I got very emotional recording ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ It’s the sweetest song about beautiful things being born out of unexpected situations and that’s a message we all need to hear now more than ever,” Dolly shared on Instagram .
You can listen for yourself right here.
It’s a beautiful song, although I do think Dolly could make singing the phone book sound like a beautiful song!
