Another woman died from domestic violence last month after her MMA fighter boyfriend, Dwayne Herelle Jr., stabbed her. The victim’s sister spoke to the Nashville Police Department, saying the accused, Herelle Jr., killed the 24-year-old Irene Torres.
What Happened?
A press release from the Nashville local Police Department revealed that Herelle Jr. and his girlfriend, Torres, argued in the wee hours of Jan. 28. He intercepted her on her way home (she lived with her parents) from work, and when he didn’t like her response, the MMA fighter stabbed her.
The Aftermath Of The Assault
Herelle Jr. confessed to the police that he carried Torres’ bleeding body to his apartment and stuffed her in his closet after wrapping her in plastic. The incident happened before daybreak (from 1:30 a.m.)
Irene’s Parents Raise The Alarm
When Torres’ parents woke up and realized she wasn’t home, they checked their surveillance footage to know if she had come and left or never arrived. After seeing the altercation between her and Herelle Jr., the older Torreses reported to the authorities.
What Was On The Surveillance Tape?
The surveillance footage showed the MMA fighter stabbing Torres severally then stuffing her into his car’s trunk. Despite the victim screaming for help, Herelle Jr. drove off. Watch the clips obtained by WKRN News 2 below.
The Police Investigate The Murder
The police arrested Herelle Jr. as a suspect but he lied about his whereabouts to the 24-year-old’s father. He told the man that his daughter was in a hotel downtown. That’s when Torres sr. demanded that Herelle Jr. drive him there.
Herelle Jr. Confesses To His Crime
Once they were en route to the so-called downtown hotel, Herelle Jr. changed his mind about lying and confessed to killing his girlfriend.
Police Trace Herelle Jr. Home

The police followed the MMA fighter to his house, where they found Torres’ dead body in his closet. Detective Baltimore said the killer wrapped his girlfriend’s body in a clear tote that looked like a comforter.
The Autopsy
The leading detective of the case, Derry Baltimore, said the autopsy revealed that Herelle Jr., 28, stabbed Torres 17 times.
More Information Comes To Light
Irene’s older sister, Reyna Douglas, launched a GoFundMe page for her sister’s funeral and shed more light on the gruesome murder in the description box. Any excess funds would go to a domestic violence charity in their locality.
Hiding Evidence

Douglas said Herelle Jr. waited for her sister to return from work and ambushed her from behind rather than the story he fed the police. She said there was no argument and the accused dragged her sister away from the camera’s frame to obscure evidence.
A History Of Domestic Violence
Despite their young ages, Douglas claims Herelle Jr., was physically and emotionally abusive to Torres. Her death day was about a month since she left the relationship.
Not Letting Go
Herelle Jr. couldn’t accept the breakup for what it was. So he stalked his ex-girlfriend and killed her about four weeks after they last saw each other.
Herelle Jr.’s Court Case

The 28-year-old’s preliminary hearing was held in Nashville, Tennessee on Feb. 15 with testimonies from Herelle Jr. and Torres’ co-workers (they worked in the same Broadway bar) and the police.
More Evidence Against Herelle Jr.
The prosecution presented b****y pants and a purse belonging to the late Torres as evidence against Herelle Jr. He’d disposed of them in a grocery store dumpster, but the police followed him there and discovered the hidden evidence.
Going To A Grand Jury
The court held that Herelle Jr.’s case is one for a grand jury and that’s where he’s headed.
