If you watched the S*x and the City spin-off, And Just Like That , you know Miranda’s character went through a lot of changes.
Miranda went from a hardworking lawyer, dedicated wife to her loving husband Steve, and strong mother to her baby son Brady to a character many of us don’t even recognize. While I totally love her take on parenting and s*x, many fans, including myself, had a hard time supporting her decisions in her marriage, most notably her infidelity.

Now, Cynthia Nixon is speaking in defense of Miranda’s character.
Look, I know a lot of fans weren’t thrilled with “And Just Like That” but I totally loved it.
I think people maybe forgot what this campy, girl power show was about to begin with. We’re supposed to have fun with it! It’s supposed to be silly and kind of crazy. It’s supposed to be a little bit cringe, but a lot a bit heartfelt.
Speaking of heartfelt, my wee heart broke after seeing what happened to our beloved Steve/Miranda plotline.
These two were once hailed as the ultimate SATC couple, so of course, it was devastating to watch their marriage fall apart.
However, it’s important to note that these women are allowed to change and grow and decide that they don’t want the same things they wanted twenty years ago.
Now, Cynthia Nixon is defending her longtime character in a new interview with “Vogue” magazine.
The 55-year-old said the anger people felt was “bizarre,” adding: “First of all, I think Miranda is brave, and I think Miranda is charging forward.”
“She doesn’t know where she’s going exactly, but she knows she has to go somewhere. And I think that’s always been true of Miranda, right?”
She continued, as per People : “Miranda’s very smart, and she’s very tenacious, but the idea that she’s levelheaded — she’s never been levelheaded!”
“She’s always been a bull in a china shop and losing her temper and blowing things up then having to backtrack when she calms down.”
Cynthia went on to refer to Miranda’s own line about age, and how being in your mid-fifties doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to change.
“As Miranda says: We’re not old, we’re 55. I mean, you’re certainly closer to the end than to the beginning.”
“But if you’re not happy with where you are, you still have a lot of time to make a change.”
I love this way of thinking, and I think it serves as a reminder to us all!
