Singer Chris Brown has been arrested in England in relation to a 2023 incident where he attacked music producer Amadou Diaw with a tequila bottle.
He was arrested on Thursday
The arrest happened on Thursday, May 15, where Brown was detained by police in Manchester, UK at his hotel.
The Sun reported that he was taken into police custody just hours after arriving at Manchester Airport on a private jet.
Police released a statement on the arrest
While they didn’t explicitly say his name, Metropolitan Police released a statement after the morning of the arrest saying, “A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.”
“He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.”
The incident took place in London
Back in February 2023, Chris Brown was claimed to have injured music producer Amadou Diaw at a Tape nightclub in Mayfair in London, as per the Daily Mail.
Diaw sued him at the time
Diaw sued Brown in October 2023, claiming in the lawsuit that Brown “inflicted severe and lasting injuries” on him during the bottle attack.
The lawsuit also added that Diaw was hospitalized with “lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg.”
Brown has an upcoming tour
This comes as Brown’s upcoming tour Breezy Bowl XX is set to begin in the Netherlands on June 8.
He also has scheduled dates for the UK in June and July with his US dates being scheduled from end of July through to October.
Brown is known for his controversies
The arrest comes as Brown remains one of the most controversial artists in the industry, with incidents dating back to his assault of ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
He has also had several other violence incidents since then.
