Cardi B is speaking out.
In a new interview with Untold Stories of Hip Hop , the rapper shared the shocking news that she was sexually assaulted by a photographer during a magazine shoot.

Cardi B recently revealed the shocking news that she was sexually harassed by a photographer during a magazine shoot.
The rapper opened up about the disturbing experience while on the first episode of Untold Stories of Hip Hop , hosted by TV personality, Angie Martinez.
Cardi revealed that at some time during the shoot, the photographer exposed himself to her.
“I’ll never forget how I went to shoot for this magazine and the photographer, he was trying to get close to me like, ‘Yeah, you want to get in this magazine?’” she said.
“Then he pulled his [expletive] out. I was so [expletive] mad.”
When Martinez asked how Cardi reacted to the situation, she recalls leaving the shoot right then and there.
Unfortunately, things didn’t get any better when she told the magazine owner what had happened.
“You know what’s so crazy?” Cardi asked Martinez.
“I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like: ‘So? And?'”
It’s likely that the incident took place early on in Cardi’s career, as Martinez if situations like this still happen.
“Oh, hell no,” the “I Like It” rapper replied.
“I put you on blast on my Instagram.”
She went on to say that it’s not just white celebs in Hollywood who have dealt with sexual assault.
“When I see the #MeToo movement, there’s girls from the ‘hood, I know they went through the same type of treatment… It happens really every day.”
Last year, Cardi had even spoken to “Cosmopolitan” about how the #MeToo movement likely wouldn’t change much in the hip-hop industry.
This is especially the case for those women who aren’t afraid to showcase their sexuality for commercial purposes, such as in music videos, social media, and so on.
“A lot of video vixens have spoke about this and nobody gives a [expletive],” she says.
“When I was trying to be a vixen, people were like, ‘You want to be on the cover of this magazine?’ Then they pull their [expletive] out.”
“I bet if one of these women stands up and talks about it, people are going to say, ‘So what? You’re a ho. It don’t matter.’”
Cardi doesn’t even believe that the men who have publically embraced the #MeToo movement are entirely authentic.
“These producers and directors,” she said. “They’re not woke, they’re scared.”
Sadly, Cardi isn’t the first — nor the last — creative female to deal with sexual assault in the music business.
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan , singer Bebe Rexha opened up about the many disturbing experiences she’s gone through in the industry.
This included a producer who would come into the studio and massage her feet.
“One time he tried to go above my knees and was getting a little rough, [so] I pulled my feet away,” she told the mag.
“He said, ‘Nah, I’m going to do what I want’. But I was raised to never let someone touch my body if I don’t want them to.”
He also had his assistant call her in the middle of the night to tell her that the producer wanted to buy her a sundress that she could wear with no underwear on.
Sadly, her former team did nothing to intervene — they let her down by encouraging her to work with him, saying that she needed a hit song.
There was also the terrifying time she thought she was going to be raped.
“There was one night. I was alone in the studio and a [different] producer had a group of five or six guys with him. I had heard things about him from his past and I just couldn’t take it anymore,” she recalled.
“I felt like I was going to get raped. I quietly called myself a taxi from the recording booth, which was enclosed, and I got the [expletive] out of there. It was the worst night ever.”
By both Bebe and Cardi sharing their difficult stories, they are standing up for females everywhere — and we couldn’t be more proud.
