20 Pics That Are Chock Full Of Tricks

There are some pretty strange pictures out there. Pictures that show something you can't quite explain. You know, until you actually take a closer look and realize it's just your mind playing tricks on you.

But let's be honest: everyone likes a cool little optical illusion every now and then. Some are funny, others are just bizarre. But they're always super fascinating.

"Honey, I shrunk the dog!"

Two dogs standing next to each other, making it look like there's just one dog with a tiny head.
reddit | DonKeedick

I swear, if the smaller dog's tail wasn't visible, I'd probably be a lot more confused than I ended up being. Though, to be honest, a dog with a tiny head would be kind of cute.

"One long cat."

reddit | 1melancholicboi

I wonder who would win in a fight between a long cat and a tiny headed dog. Probably the cat (but I wouldn't count the dog out, either!).

In any case, I think it's probably best that long cats don't actually exist.

The magical, floating water bottle.

This is one of those illusions that you might end up seeing every time you look away and look back at the picture. Like, I know that bottle isn't floating, and yet every single time I look at it, I have a split second where I'm a little confused.

"Two headed goose."

Two geese flying in the sky in close proximity to one another.
reddit | gallant2e19

I'm going to go ahead and assume that this two-headed goose is actually two different geese flying closely together. I'm assuming, and I'm hoping, because the last thing those vicious birds need is a second head to bite us with.

I'd take lessons from that driver.

I think what makes this picture so great is the fact that the dog looks so focused on the road. Though, I'm not really sure I'd trust a dog on the road. Especially not if there are any squirrels around.

Dad today, gone tomorrow.

A family picture in which the dad's legs aren't visible, making it look like he's floating.
reddit | SolidFollowing3321

It seriously looks like the dad is in the middle of disappearing into thin air. But, based on the Reddit comments, it looks like he's actually standing there, but his legs are hidden behind the rest of the family. So strange...

"Hand me that cookie."

A hand that's obscured by the cookie it's holding.
reddit | peterjussila

Actually, there's a lot going on here. The way this person's hand is holding that cookie makes it look like they don't actually have a hand, sure. But is it just me, or is this angle making the cookie (and hand/arm) look unnaturally big?

"This staircase and window."

A reflection showing a staircase and window next to the actual stairs and window.
reddit | hardknox_

Is it a big mirror? Wet paint? Well, whatever it is, it's making that space look a lot bigger than it actually is. And to be honest, is that really such a bad thing?

But... where did it go?

I wish I could explain this with full confidence, but my best guess (thanks to the Reddit comments) is that this picture was probably taken through a window, and some kind of reflection got in there.

"Trying to get just a head to drink."

A guy standing next to a fence where an alpaca is taking a sip out of his drink, but only its head is visible.
reddit | SolidFollowing3321

Maybe it's just the picture itself, but I couldn't even tell you what kind of animal that is. Some kind of weird alpaca? I dunno.

Funny enough, that isn't even the weirdest part of the pic.

"This tree fell and got caught on another tree, they tried cutting it but now it’s just levitating."

A severed tree branch suspended in the air by other branches.
reddit | zherper

Imagine walking through that forest and having no idea how that tree got like that. I'd be pretty convinced that witches lived around there.

"Girlfriend has a concussion and sensitive to light. She put a scarf over her TV to limit her exposure to the lights. The way everything was layered was trippy."

reddit | chrisbos

Yeah... I feel like if that were me, this would just make my head feel worse.

"Skyscraper against the mountain and clouds."

A building where half of it matches the sky's colour, and the other half matches a cloud.
reddit | RACOONSUIT

Too bad it's zoomed all the way out, because now I can't tell if it's a reflection or if the building was painted that way (for whatever reason). Oh well, can't win them all, I guess.

Puppies, or fried chicken?

It looks to me like fried chicken and a cloud. Even though those puppies are definitely super fluffy and cuddly, I'd almost think their fur would make a crinkly sound if you rand your hand over them.

I think they took fancy plating a little too far.

reddit | smelly_old_wolfe

Okay, but could you imagine if somebody actually thought it'd be a good idea to stick a wine glass on top of a chocolate dessert? I feel like it wouldn't even make it out of the kitchen without crashing.

"I Double Dog Dare You."

Two dogs walking; one is slightly behind the other, making it look like the two form one long dog with 8 legs.
reddit | ErasersJones

Okay, between this double dog with eight legs, the long cat, and the dog with the tiny head, who would win? My money was on the long cat, but now I'm not so sure...

"Guy behind wife snuck his rather large hand on her shoulder, while kid behind me cupped a feel around my love handles."

reddit | SammoB

See, I probably wouldn't have noticed the large hand illusion until it was pointed out to me. Now all I'm seeing is a guy with a big hand and a long arm. And the kid, too!

"A relative sent me this pic from a park."

A man sitting on a park bench. The angle makes it look like he has small legs.
reddit | Marssav_24

Even though I knew it was super improbable, it seriously looked like that dude was skipping leg day for a second. Luckily, you can see his actual legs in the picture, too.

"He's ringing his little bell."

That third head totally looks like a hand. But luckily, llamas don't have the ability to move their arms around like that. They... also don't have hands. Or, at least, they don't have opposable thumbs.

"I took a picture of a bush."

Okay, but this would also make a really cool (but trippy) lock screen for a phone. It shows how cool, yet oddly confusing nature can be at times, and I'm totally here for it!
