Britney Spears has been suffering in silence for too long and now, fans finally have a glimpse into what the past decade has been like for the Princess of Pop. In a new, shocking testimony from Britney herself, fans are hearing the devastating realities of what her conservatorship has done to her life, career, and even her bodily autonomy.
As fans know, Britney Spears has been under a conservatorship since 2008.
This has meant Britney has not been in control of her life, personally or professionally, in over a decade.

Now, Britney is speaking in open court for the first time about her case and the emotional and physical toll this conservatorship has had on her.
In an emotional, 20-minute address, the 39-year-old was able to speak with the judge, and the public, about the toll this conservatorship has had on her.
“I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated,” Britney told the court, as per the BBC .
“This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good… I deserve to have a life.”
Referring to social media posts in the past, the singer said: “I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m okay and I’m happy.”
She added: “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized. I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”
Britney detailed wanting to get married and having a baby with long-time boyfriend Sam Asghari, but explained she is unable to due to the conservatorship.
She accused her conservator of not allowing her to have her IUD removed so she could get pregnant.
“I feel ganged up on and I feel bullied and I feel left out and alone,” she told the court. “I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does, by having a child, a family, any of those things.”
It’s clear that while we continue to fight for women’s rights to bodily autonomy, we are still unable to fight for women who are legally under someone else’s thumb.
Speaking out about what happened to Britney is important. She has every right to be angry at the media, her family, and the legal system, and it’s up to her fans to show her support.
