What is the pettiest thing you’ve ever done after a breakup ? That’s what TikTok user @_sadielane asked ( and her own story is a wild ride in itself ).
But in a stitch with that video, Lacie G***h ( @laciiiegeesrna ) had a story of her own, which honestly took pettiness to a whole new (and probably deserved) level. It included going on her own honeymoon with her mom instead of her ex.
“After five years together and the day before we were supposed to get married, my ex decided that he didn’t love me anymore and he didn’t want to get married,” Lacie says.
“That’s fine. What I did is, I went on our honeymoon that his parents paid for. And I took my mom.”
She also returned the engagement ring that her ex paid for and kept the money.
“I used that money and went to the Virgin Islands for 2 weeks, came back, did a burn the dress photoshoot with the dress I was supposed to get married in.”
“And then after our house sold I wouldn’t let him have any of the money, and I got a b**b job.”
Since Lacie posted her story at the beginning of September, it’s been viewed over 9 million times. Plenty of commenters have shared their own thoughts on the matter.
Plenty of commenters sided with Lacie.
One user wrote, “I’ll never understand why people get put through all that just 4 them to change their mind like ?? you must’ve known sooner. but glad to see U blossom.”
Others thought her ex was the one that dodged the bullet.
One commenter said, “Everyone’s a bad person in someone else’s story, I’d love to hear his side of story too!”
Another commented, “Was gonna say sounds like he made the right choice why is she entitled to any of that…”
Lacie later posted a storytime video explaining how the breakup happened.
Two days before the wedding, Lacie noticed her ex acting weird, but he just said he was nervous about the wedding. Then the day before, she kept asking if something was wrong.
He didn’t want to talk about it, but Lacie kept pushing.
“And finally he told me that he ‘wasn’t ready to get married,’ … and then he said ‘Well, I love you but I’m not in love with you,'” she said.
For Lacie, it wasn’t the fact that he broke it off. It’s the fact that he waited until they were about to get married to do it.
In another TikTok, she explains how she didn’t do anything shady or illegal to get the money.
She explains that her mom paid for the wedding, and she lost all the money from it not happening. Because his parents gave them a check for the honeymoon, Lacie used her own credit card to book the honeymoon, meaning the trip was in her name.
And in her home state of Nebraska, her rings were considered gifts, so she was entitled to the money if she wanted to return them.
She also explains that her ex didn’t actually pay any of the down payment for the house they’d bought “together.”
“The month before we bought the house he couldn’t even afford rent in our apartment because he went on a trip ‘with the boys.'”
“He didn’t really contribute to the house anyways.”
Basically, Lacie didn’t get all the money she and her mom lost, but she still managed to doge a bullet.
