The Royal Family is looking to hire a part-time housekeeping assistant at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in Edinburgh, Scotland.

There’s been a lot of changes in the royal family in recent years.
First, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made the decision to basically leave the royal family after years of media scrutiny .
Then, the Firm, as it’s sometimes called, began to distance themselves from Prince Andrew following his recent scandal.
Finally, the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip died.
The Duke of Edinburgh, who was 99 at the time, passed away “peacefully” on April 9, 2021. He was the lifelong companion of Queen Elizebeth (they wed in 1947) and also the longest-serving consort in British history.
If there’s one thing that has remained the same during all these changes, it’s the family’s need for help.
Prince Charles, for example, relies on his team of staff to do simple tasks for him , like ironing his shoelaces and squeezing one inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush every morning. Seriously.
Now, the royal family is looking to add one more housecleaner onto their roster of staff.
If you’re cleaning skills are up to snuff, you will work 20 hours and four days per week and be paid about CAD$16 per hour.
This is equivalent to what minimum wage will be in the United Kingdom in April 2022.
“This is a career pathway in hospitality that will develop your housekeeping skills and expertise,” the job posting reads.
“Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.”
There are some pretty cool perks that come with the job, like a 15 percent employer pension contribution.
You’ll also get 33 days of holiday time (so you can visit your family and tell them all the royal deets) and a “comprehensive benefits package.”
Since this is the royal family we’re talking about, they are particular about who they hire.
Interested applicants should have previous experience in the fields of either housekeeping or hospitality, be big on attention to detail (this comes in handy when ironing the family’s bedsheets), and enjoy working as part of a team.
“Above all, you’ll be eager to learn new skills and develop a hospitality career,” the job posting writes.
“This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and interest in hospitality to deliver the exceptional.”
Not included in the job posting: this is your opportunity to learn the inner workings of the royal family!
As the great Dwight Schrute once said, “you can learn a lot about a man from his trash.”
We need to know what the Queen throws out on a daily basis (and maybe sell it on eBay).
But working at the Palace of Holyroodhouse won’t be an easy gig.
According to the Royal Collection Trust, the Palace of Holyroodhouse has 289 rooms, 387 windows, and 106 staff.
Each year, the palace hosts 8,000 guests for the royal family’s annual garden party.
Guests munch on an estimated 15,000 cups of tea, 9,000 strawberry tarts, and 7,000 sandwiches during the event.
Unfortunately, the job posting for the cleaning job is now closed.
