The Queen's Former Chef Shares What Her Favorite Fast Food Item Is

She may be the Queen of England, but that isn't going to stop Queen Elizabeth from enjoying comfort foods like us peasants regular folks.

We already know that she's a major chocoholic (her fav is a dish called chocolate perfection pie). But what about fast food?

According to her former royal chef, Her Majesty isn't disinclined to indulge from time to time.

It's been said that the Queen's late husband, Prince Philip, was the real foodie in their relationship.

"He'd want to try any new dishes all the time and got excited about new ingredients," chef Darren McGrady, who cooked for the Queen at Buckingham Palace for 11 years, told Hello!.

"Whereas the Queen, if we had a new recipe, she'd have to look at the whole recipe before saying, 'Yes ok let's try it,'" he continued.

"But for the most part she stuck to the same dishes week in week out."

One of these faves was Gleneagles pâté.

If it sounds fancy, that's because it is!

Darren explained that it's smoked salmon, trout, and mackerel. Since the Queen loved using ingredients off the estate, it was always prepared as fresh as possible.

"So if we had salmon from Balmoral from the River Dee, she'd have that, it was one of her favourites," McGrady said.

For the most part, McGrady said that the Queen's diet consists of mainly British and French food.

"We cooked a lot of traditional French food like halibut on a bed of spinach with a Morney sauce."

Yes, this means foods like pizza are out.

"Eleven years at the palace and we never served pizza at all, not even at receptions," Queen Elizabeth II's former chef Darren McGrady told Insider.

The only explanation is that the Queen was saving her calories for delicious treats that satisfy her sweet tooth!

In addition to the chocolate perfection pie, which is made with cinnamon, meringue, and chocolate cream, she loved chocolate in general.

"She’s absolutely a chocoholic," Darren said. "Anything we put on the menu that had chocolate on she’d choose."

During the summers, she would get her sugar fix at the family's Scotland home. Two batches of dishes were always prepared by the chefs, with one dessert served on silver and another in a reusable container.

This was a perfect finisher for all the summer BBQs the family would have!

And now — drumroll please — it's time to reveal the Queen's favorite fast food.

.....Burgers!

But don't expect to find the Queen dining at a Mcdonald's or Burger King anytime soon. With a refined palette such as hers, the Queen prefers to get her fast food fix from scratch.

“It always tickled me at Balmoral, we would make our own burgers," McGrady revealed to Insider.

"They would shoot deer, and we would do venison burgers. There’d be gorgeous cranberry… stuffed into them." To top it off, she never had her burgers with a bun.

Instead, she'd eat her burgers with a knife and fork.

She's fancy, huh?!

"Her Majesty's Victorian upbringing dictates that the only thing you would pick up and eat with your fingers is afternoon tea," McGrady told Insider. This makes sense, considering the strict eating rules the family has.

If you're wondering what the other royal members' favorite foods are, we got the scoop on that, too.

Prince William must've inherited his grandmother's sweet tooth, as his favorite dish is chocolate biscuit cake.

It was even served as his wedding cake in 2011!

Kate Middleton, on the other hand, is more of a savoury gal. Her favorite dish is curry from an Indian restaurant.

Finally, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lean more towards the healthy side.

Being the California girl that she is, Markle loves a colorful acai bowl.

Meanwhile, Harry loves roast chicken (it's the food Meghan was making when he proposed!). This proves that the way to a man's heart is his stomach.
