Look, before I say anything, let’s be clear— I love Adam Sandler. Remember Happy Gilmore ? Those were the good ol’ days!
Hubie Halloween , unfortunately, lived up to that Adam Sandler stereotype that all his movies have gone downhill since the early 2000s!
In addition to the poor reviews, the film got a local Boston newscaster fired!
Let’s break this all down, shall we?
Adam Sandler’s much anticipated Halloween film *Hubie Halloween* hit Netflix last week.
The film is set in Salem, Massachusetts, and follows the story of eccentric but devoted community volunteer, Hubie, who finds himself wrapped up in a real crime investigation on Halloween!
The film was met with mixed reviews from fans and critics alike.
However, I will say if you like goofy Adam Sandler movies and are in the mood for some feel-good spooky season humor, be sure to check out Hubie Halloween !
The film also features a touching tribute to Sandler’s “Grown Ups” on-screen son, Cameron Boyce.

As you may remember, 20-year-old actor Cameron Boyce tragically passed away in July 2019.
Cameron, who had epilepsy, suffered from a fatal seizure in his sleep.
Midway through the credit role, a picture of Cameron flashes onscreen alongside a message that reads: “In loving memory of CAMERON BOYCE. Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest and most talented kids we know.”

The message concluded: “You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.”
It was truly such a moving tribute to the beloved actor.
It’s clear this movie was a passion project for Sandler, who included many of his closest friends and even his wife, in the film.
The movie includes A LOT of cameos from funny people like Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, Kenan Thompson, Tim Meadows, and Steve Buscemi!
If you watched *Hubie Halloween* you may remember that Boston news anchor Alaina Pinto made a brief cameo.

Alaina’s character comes to work dressed up as Harley Quinn from Suicide Sqaud for Halloween, only to discover that her fellow female broadcasters have all done the same.
Unfortunately for Ms. Pinto, her superiors at WHDH Channel 7 News fired her after learning about this cameo due to an alleged contract violation.

“Hi Friends! I have some news to share… Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News,” the news anchor tweeted .
“I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, Hubie Halloween .”
She continued, “In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me.”

“I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved.”
Alaina concluded: “I promise to stay in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter – the future is bright!”
While many of Alaina’s supporters were understanding of the circumstances, others were not impressed!
“It’s pretty dumb,” wrote @kiki_strumm3r.
The tweet continued: “I can only imagine they think it’s a slippery slope between appearing in a movie on a platform that isn’t remotely a competitor and their entire news team appearing on WBZ or something similarly stupid.”
Judging by Alaina’s social media, she is a multi-talented, hardworking, good-time gal who will without a doubt find another awesome job soon!

We’re wishing Alaina nothing but the best in all her future endeavors!
