Doing good work is often its own reward, especially when it comes to the kind of lifesaving work done by emergency response teams like firefighters, medical personnel, and police teams. That makes it all the more sweet when good people notice this work being done and offer a reward of their own.
The wildfires that had been burning across Australia throughout the end of 2019 and the start of 2020 were devastating.
However, due to the hard work of Australia’s emergency responders and through the good fortune of heavy rainfall, many of the fires have recently been declared as contained and under control.
The Irwins, through their work with The Australia Zoo and their Wildlife Hospital, had helped rescue over 90,000 animals that had been de-homed or injured throughout the fires.
This personal involvement in the battle against the devastation caused by the wildfires likely contributed to the intense gratitude the Irwin family and the Australia Zoo has for all the hardworking firefighters who helped contain the fires — a gratitude they expressed through a generous offer made by Bindi Irwin on Instagram.
Bindi announced that all firefighters will be able to enter the Australia Zoo for free in gratitude for their hard work.
“To thank firefighters for all they do, firefighters and a guest of their choice, can enter @AustraliaZoo for FREE during the week 15 – 21 February,” Bindi shared on Instagram.
Bindi’s post continued.
“All paid, volunteer, Australian and International firefighters can show their QFES or equivalent State, Territory or International identification at the admissions booth for free entry for both themselves and a guest.”
“I just want to say thank you to all and to you and the zoo for your kindness in such a devastating time,” one fan commented on the post.
“You are wonderful people and I know your dad would be very proud of what you are all doing,” the comment finished.
We couldn’t agree more.
Fans from all over the world took to social media to express their approval.
“What an awesome way to say thank you!! Sending hugs from the US!” one comment read.
“Such a generous and cool idea!” said another.
“Wow that’s amamzing 100% deserved,” read one comment.
It’s clear that everyone, not just the firefighters, appreciate this gesture from the Irwins and from the Australia Zoo.
Shortly after this announcement, Bindi shared this fitting quote on Instagram.
It’s obvious that that kindness is exactly the kind of spirit that goes into their work with the zoo and with the Wildlife Hospital.
What a wonderful offer and reward for these hardworking people!
It looks like Steve Irwin’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and passion for wildlife preservation is alive and thriving through his family.
